Escape

Two weeks had went by, Kaitlin and I finding every way possible to get out of here. It was almost impossible because we were so weak. Especially me. At this point I'm surviving. Two weeks without blood was like being starved to death. It's 2x worse because I have a child in me. I was starting to really show now that I was getting skinnier and skinnier.
We heard a pop sound and looked at the hatch. It opened up enough for someone to throw a bag of blood through the hole and closed quickly. We both jumped up and ran over to where the blood was at. Attached to it was two cups and a note that said:
Enjoy.
Kaitlin stopped me, "Let me test to make sure it's not poisoned." I nodded and let her take a sip. I waited an hour and nothing happened so I grabbed a cup. Then another. Kaitlin let me get my full, then she had what was left. We both sat in the corner satisfied(almost). We were still weak but manageable. "They are keeping us alive, but barely" Kaitlin said.
"I know."
I looked down at my belly. I looked twice as big as I should. Kaitlin looked down too and looked back up at me and smiled. "We have to get out of here."

We were still so weak as we laid on the floor. "Why do you think they gave us that blood?" I asked.
"Probably to keep us alive so they can send us to trial once the rebels have taken us over" Kaitlin said. She sounded almost depressed. Almost like she was giving up. I know she gave me more blood than what she had, but we couldn't make an escape without her! I scooted over and grabbed her hand, "Don't give up please!" I begged her. She smiled, "I'm just worried, if we don't make it out of this we're not killing just us." She looked down at my belly again. I grabbed her and hugged her, "We will make it out of this I promise!"

The sound of a latch and a bang on the door scared us awake. We both gathered over another bag of blood. It had a note and rope tied to it, "RUN!" We both looked at eachother. "We can't risk the Maybe" I told her. We both feasted and gathered the rope up. Kaitlin began to tie knots on both ends. We tied the rope to the bed and opened the window.
It's was beautiful outside the moon was big and stained with a yellow color. Kaitlin threw the rope down and looked at me. "You must go first if they come in I would rather get caught then you" She said. I thought about it and obeyed. I grabbed the rope and slowly made my departure.
As soon as my feet touched the ground I yanked on the rope to let Kaitlin know I was down. She then began climbing. She was a lot faster than I was. But then again she didn't have a belly to worry about.
Once she reached the ground she looked at me and smiled and I hugged her. We were both over joyed that we were actually able to make it down.
"I think it might be best if we stay off of the path Kaitlin" I said. "I agree through the roses it is?" I nodded we began walking, then running. We both giggled as we ran through them. We were a little too giddy to be out of that room. 3 1/2 weeks was too long.
I laid down in a pile of flowers and roses. Being almost hidden from people. If I was still enough. I closed my eyes. It has been a long time since I've been outside. I began to hear a dripping noise. Drip. Drip. Drip. I jumped up feeling my heart race looking around afraid for what I might find. I crawled closer toward the end of the rose bushes and pulled them apart.
My eyes were in shock at what I was looking at. There was a big hole, full of... of bodies..
they were decaying bodies. The bodies we feasted on. I felt a scream crawl out of my throat. Kaitlin rushed over putting her hand over my mouth and I was pointing at the rose bushes. She let go of me and peaked and fell back. I saw tears spring to her eyes. "Omygosh.." she cried out. We both backed away, wanting to run, but not knowing where to go.
I then felt someone come up behind, someone tall. They put their hand over my mouth and pulled me into a group of trees. I began to kick the person. Kicking as hard as I can. I saw Kaitlin being pulled too. I tried to run. "Damn you are so strong" I heard the voice say. It sounded familiar. I stopped and pulled away, looking around and it was Nicholas.
