I was a bomb.
I am a bomb.
Seeing Dylan made me realize I was destroying everyone that cared about me and everyone I cared about. The Dylan I knew was so put together and sure of himself that he would never go near a bottle of alcohol, but here he was reaking of it.
"Annie. Are you really here?" he asked in a croaky tone.
"Yes, I'm here. What is wrong? What has been going on? You look like a-" I said and reached out to grab his hand. I couldn't help but cry.
"-I'm sorry. I just needed the pain to go away. The alcohol helped but stopped after a while so Cole offered me some of this green stuff, and it was crazy," he said laughing and pulling it out of his pocket.
I quickly pushed it back in.
"Are you crazy? Do you want to get us arrested?"
"That would be the second time this week if I do," he laughed and brought a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket. He almost lit a cigarette but I gave him a dont-you-dare look.
"Stop this nonsense, Dylan. Pull yourself together. You shouldn't have been with Cole and you know it."
Oh, God help me please. I feel like I might collapse under all of this.
"He had more and I needed it after the party-"
"-party? You went for one of Cole's crazy parties? I can't believe you! What happened to everything you stood for?"
"Don't be a hypocrite. What happened to everything you stood for?"
"For your information, I'm not the one with weed in my pocket and I'm not the one intoxicated with alcohol." I semi-shouted.
Dylan's sat in the chair staring at me refusing to say a word then his phone rang. The screen of his iPhone lit up and a picture of a blonde in a crop top and leggings on his lap stared at me. Someone named Brit was calling.
"Who is this?" I asked holding up the phone.
"I said, who is this?" I continued.
"I promise, if you do not answer me I will fling this phone across the room. Answer me!"
"Britney," he finally said.
"Well, duh. Why is she on your lap?"
"You were gone. It was a party, I was having a nice time and she came over and we talked and had drinks and stuff happened." he replied.
I couldn't believe my ears. I felt like my world was crashing down. Dylan had cheated, I was sick, my interpretation: the Sun was hurtling towards earth and I was it's target. I broke down in tears, right in front of him. He got of the chair and slowly approached me. He cupped my chin in his palm and looked into my eyes.
"I love you," he said.
My arms swung at his face and hit him right on the cheek, where he deserved it. I knew he was drunk but I couldn't take it and I was definitely not ready to be lied to.
"Get out of my room! Get out! Now!" I shouted.
Dylan gripped his face and stumbled out of the room without his phone and I laid there sobbing in my bed.
"You know he is drunk right?" my father said from the door. "He misses you, he loves you. He just got hooked on the wrong stuff to fill the void. You need to talk to him, and I don't mean yell, I mean talk. Like a grown adult. You can't shut him out, he'll just get deeper into this downward spiral. I need you to do it for him. Ill get him back here tomorrow, Ill have him clean and sober. Be nice."
I couldn't imagine talking to someone who had hurt me that bad, but I couldn't imagine allowing him to go deeper into drugs.
