I had seen Dylan everyday this past week but each visit was short because Cookie always called him to go shopping, or ice-skating, or to fellowship and even church.
"Are you sure you don't want to come?" he asked each time I was ready to leave. I refused. I wasn't going to be the third wheel so I resorted to visiting Kyle instead.
As I pulled up to Kyle's house I spotted a beautiful brunette step out of the house and then blow Kyle a kiss. She wore a short velvet dress from Acid's 2013 collection which had intricate details around the neck and made her look like the model she probably was. I stepped out with a displeased look and Kyle just stood at the doorway waiting for me.
"Hi babe. You just missed my cousin, Anastasia." he said pointing at the yellow Ferrari speeding off between the seemingly endless line of palm trees.
I cracked a smile, for a moment I thought Kyle was cheating on me. I didn't want to commit to a relationship with Kyle but I didn't want him seeing others either.
"Are you okay? You look tired" he said.
"I've just been thinking a lot lately, that's all." I replied.
"Would you like to talk?"
"Maybe after a cup of coffee."
"I'll drive you to Starbucks," he said and took my keys.
We took chairs at the corner of the coffee house. I ordered a latte and Kyle had a bottle of water.
"So what's bothering you?" he asked.
"Out of everything I think it's seeing my siblings become more withdrawn. Ever since my mum's flight was hijacked they stopped being the fun people I knew. They talk less about how they feel. Even my dad's broken. He's saturates himself with work so he doesn't have to think about what happened- that includes us." I said as a tears streamed down my face.
"You care so much about others and forget yourself. Are you broken An?" he asked.
I knew I was broken, I knew I was shattered, I knew I needed help but my pride stood in the way of me getting any- I could fix myself. I would.
"Kyle. Are you broken?" I asked.
"I am only because you are," he said then came over and sat in my seat with his arms around me.
After a few minutes he got up to get me some tissues from the toilet. While he was gone his phone beeped. I looked at it and saw a message from Anastasia.
Anastasia: 'When am I seeing you again Koko bear?'
I picked up his iPhone and unlocked it. I knew I wasn't meant to be looking through his phone but I had to. I scrolled through his messages and as I did I almost fell to the ground.
'You're my one and only' Kyle had said to her in one of the text messages. I broke even more. So many things he had said to me had been repeated in the texts to her. He was her Koko bear and she was his An. I was revolted and enraged and I knew I couldn't take it any more yet I looked on.
I went through his photos and saw dozens of pictures of his 'cousin' and one of both of them at his beach house. I ran to my car and sat inside for a while. I was hyperventilating and my hands were shaking. I couldn't drive, but I couldn't let Kyle find me here like this.
I dialed Dylan. All I did was cry while Dylan requested to know where I was. I couldn't talk to him either. He would be with Cookie and she would let everyone know what happened. I took a deep breath in and started the car. I drove slowly till I got home then ran upstairs to my bathroom.
