HEARTBEAT RATTLING FAST, ADRENALINE RUSHING EMINENTLY VIGOROUS, footsteps rubbing against the solid floor as the typical odor from the hospital staved into everyone's nostrils. All visitors' gazes had a sundry of significances that made passersby could only question what they actually felt at the moment. Of course, they would also have different answers for it, one that no stranger could ever guess. Including Sebastian Stan and Calligenia Martin.
Once the news about Margarita's house appeared on the TV, a glimmer of bliss and concord for two had to be taken away and prompted them to swallow the fact that nothing last forever. Or maybe Calligenia needed to take control of her own delusion that no one could modulate how their story would end. For her, however, it was preposterous to end up like a fairy tale.
Taking from Sebastian's facial feature tinted by prodigious fear, anxiety and sadness, Calligenia secretly hoped that she should not stay. She should have left without any impression last night, disappearing from his life like she never existed because somehow it was better, leaving without a goodbye would make it easier for him to think that she wasn't his endgame.
Because if there was one fear in her soul that she didn't want to experience – was to see Sebastian with the woman who once padded his loneliness with happiness long before Calligenia had a chance to get to know him first.
A tight and warm embrace, something Calligenia was getting used to gain from him, something she thought she didn't need to share it with anyone, instead became a reason for her to halt on her steps. Drawing up a distance from the former lovers, Calligenia stood frozen while listening to the exchange of conversation which was not explicit for the world, but very clear to her.
"I – I can't lose her too." Margarita mumbled on his arms, sobbing uncontrollably. "Please, don't leave me, Sebastian. I need you."
"I'm here." Sebastian gently rubbed her back up and down, shushing softly. "You won't lose her, Margarita. She's strong – just like you."
However, it didn't last long enough since the doctor came out of the room Calligenia believed where Irina was being treated. "Parents of Irina Genevieve?"
"Yeah?" Sebastian pulled away from the embrace, but still held Margarita close to him.
The doctor smiled warmly to them and nodded curtly. "She's awake now."
And just like that, the thought of having Calligenia around forgotten in a split second as they all scrambled into the room without leaving a glance at her. Not even Sebastian. Blaming the situation was the only opt she could pick out because at this point, his focus was definitely fixed on Irina. Calligenia couldn't blame him, for her knowing that Irina was his daughter and it was well-earned that a father would leave everything to make sure their daughter was okay.
Some of the people edged away a peculiar gaze at her, seeing a striking ginger head woman only stood still in the middle of the hallway, dissolving in an ocean of thoughts. Step by step, slowly but surely, Calligenia made her way to witness what was going on in the room. With a heart stung and slashed by the woes of reality, she came to a halt and stood slightly away from the center of the glass, refusing to be noticed by them. Though they were only separated by a wall and transparent glass, their teary laughter thundered into her ears.
