THE TYPICAL SMELL OF THE coffee shop visited Calligenia's nostrils every now and then as a bunch of people passed by outside the tavern, looking busy as usual. The delicate sound of the piano by Ludovico Einaudi became the only thing that placated her. Calligenia honestly didn't know why she agreed to meet Margarita──she didn't even know the blonde at all, not until all of a sudden she slid into her direct message. But somehow her heart said she needed to see Margarita, either because it might have something to do with Sebastian or she just sincerely wanted to fulfill her adjuration.
However, the voices in her head perfectly made herself a bit apprehensive.
A nagging voice kept ringing in the back of her mind, hooting that this was all a mistake. Prior to this day, Calligenia had been warned by Mitchie and Pom to refuse all things concerned with an ex girlfriend because at the end of the day, it only brought a bad outcome, which would make the ginger look at Sebastian differently. As a result of a stubborn personality, Calligenia was determined that it would not happen──she would still look at him just the same as they first met during The Winter Soldier's premiere. But of course, the universe opposed it to happen.
Calligenia loved babies very much. It wasn't a doubt anymore. So, when Margarita finally arrived and pushed a baby stroller in the process, Calligenia's eyes were instantly lit up like the lights on the Christmas tree. The baby was absolutely beautiful with her blue eyes and blonde hair, Calligenia literally wanted to burst out into tears because of her adorableness. Unfortunately, it didn't last long. It was a mistake to ask for her name.
"Irina Stan."
In an instant, Calligenia's body went stiff as she traveled her eyes back to Margarita in disbelief. This, of course, was very shocking and mystifying information for her since she didn't see this coming at all. For some reason, her heart fractured by hearing Irina's last name. This kid is Sebastian's daughter. The thought itself made every ardor positively vacate her body right then and there, causing her to fall back languidly to her seat.
"I know this is very surprising, but I want you to know first before you get too attached to him any further." Margarita explained, sensing the change of mood in her. "Irina is eleven months old. I stayed away from the entertainment world for a while because I was pregnant with her, but then I saw you two were close at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against your relationship. Whatever sparks you two have right now, I don't really care, but I just want you to know the truth."
Calligenia's lips sealed tight for a brief moment before she soothed herself out so her voice didn't tremble in the end. "Why are you telling me this?"
"Because I don't want you to receive the massive hatred I got, which believes me, it's much worse than anything." Margarita reasoned as she occasionally fed Irina the food she had prepared from home. "When I was dating Sebastian, any slightest mistake would lead me to an endless hostility, I even got death threats from his so called fans. Look, imagine this, if one day everyone knows that he has a child and it is not from you──you certainly will be considered to snatch him away from me."
"But, we're not dating, Margarita."
Margarita chuckled at her innocence answer. "Oh sweetheart, I've seen the way he looks at you. And trust me, you won't do dates, but he's going to propose you right away."
"I can't──I can't date him if he has a daughter." Calligenia said, a tear almost falling down her cheek. "Irina needs a father figure and I don't──oh my, I'm gonna be honest with you, Margarita, call me old-fashioned but I strongly can't share my future husband with any other woman."
Margarita apologetically smiled and grabbed her hand for comfort. "I'm sorry. Look, I don't want this to happen. I mean, yes, Irina's the best gift for me, but because of our mistakes, you are the one who endured the aftermath."
Heartache and dander amalgamated inside Calligenia's body, a vortex of treachery invading her entire mind as she secretly blamed Sebastian for not giving her any monition. Sebastian might not be hers, but the feelings she had met him before led the ginger to think he was special to her in the past──that was why she always had the need to have him around. But again, her mind could be the hive of tricksters and the heart could be eminently deceptive.
Calligenia wanted to be mad at him, but at the end of the day, who was Calligenia Martin for Sebastian Stan?
A nobody.
"You don't have to say sorry, no, in fact, you don't have to say anything at all." Calligenia responded, breaking a smile to form on her lips despite her wrecked heart. "He's not even mine in the first place."
Unfortunately, the past said otherwise. Calligenia and Sebastian were more than nobody──yes, they were strangers, but she should not have forgotten someone who was behind the reason she was still alive and well up to this day.
