Daniel's P. O. V.

"Don't bother us for a while we're watching Jess read her book!" I yelled before closing my bedroom door. Wren and I plopped on my bed and found the live stream on my laptop.

They introduced her and asked a few questions about the book, then she started reading. I watched with complete admiration. She was so beautiful. And the way she spoke the words she wrote. She meant every word and she had so much emotion.

It was her life story in a book, and I could tell it was hard for her to read, but she got through it. I didn't notice I was crying until Wren pointed it out.

"Why are you crying?" She asked. I shrugged my shoulders, wiping my eyes.

"You really love her don't you?"

"With all my heart."

She finished her book with a smile and the room erupted in applause. People started asking questions about the book, but I wasn't listening. I was too wrapped up in how beautiful she looked. Her smile stretched from ear to ear and was obvious in her eyes, too. It was crystal clear that she was beyond happy.

After the live stream ended I texted Jess telling her to call me when she got the chance. Less than five minutes later my phone rang and I quickly answered it.

"Jess that was amazing! I'm so proud of you!"

"Thanks Daniel. It was a lot of fun," she said calmly.

"Why aren't you excited babe?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.

"We need to talk."

"Jess what's wrong?"

"I-I don't wanna lie to you."

"Jess tell me what's wrong," I started tearing up.

"I think we should break up."

"What? Why?"

"I'm still in love with Justin."

"You're what?"

"He's changed, Daniel. He's so much better than he was and he's treated me right."

"He's tricking you Jess!"

"No he's not. He loves me and I love him. I'm sorry Daniel."

"Jess-" I was cut off by the beep. Jess had hung up on me.

I dropped my phone, letting the tears spill from my eyes. I didn't bother trying to hide my face from the guys as I walked out of my room and to the kitchen.

"Daniel what's wrong?" Jack asked. I ignored him, grabbing the car keys and going outside.

I got in the car and started driving until I got to my destination. I got out of the car and ran inside. My mom was sitting on the couch and when she saw me she stood up.

"Baby, what's wrong?" She asked. I ran over to her and hugged her tight. She rubbed my back.

"Daniel what happened?" She asked, still hugging me.

"I lost her. I lost her mom." I cried into her shoulder while she comforted me.

Jess's P. O. V.

I opened the door and saw Justin standing there. I smiled and let him in.

"You okay?" He asked.

"I broke up with Daniel," I said sighing.

"I'm so sorry," he said pulling me into a hug.

"No you're not. I know you're happy," I told him a smile slowly forming on my face.

"I mean, I'm not gonna lie." He chuckled. He grabbed my face and leaned down to kiss my lips.
