Rory was left alone in her mostly uncomfortable bed to reflect on her mother's absence. Only her brain was struggling to keep her thoughts in line after hearing Emily go off on a 'Gilmore Girl OG' rant about Lorelai's behavior.

I don't understand. Why would she just up and leave? Wait, did something come up at the inn? Did Dad say something? He usually says something that upsets her. No, she would have said something before she left. Unless it was an emergency like the inn on fire! I should call to make sure. Ugh. Why is everyone giving my pitiful stares?

I reached for the phone sitting on the nightstand, just out of reach. Grunting, I use the bed remote to move it closer, but only it only serves to push it farther away and drop the bed remote on the ground with a hefty clack on the hard flooring. Groaning in frustration, she fell back into the flattened pillow and frowned.

Clenching her eyes shut at the phantom pounding in her head only increased her unrest until she was interrupted by Logan, her dad, and Francine entering her room. Hands filled with bags and things.

"Hey, kiddo. Are you feeling okay?" Chris asked, setting down flowers with obscure kid balloons and a sack.

"Yeah, I feel fine at the moment." Rory mumbled, her head rolling into the direction of her dad and then to her grandma.

"Rory, dear, we talked with the doctor a little bit ago, and she said that you will be released in a few days." Francine explained, setting down the basket and a couple of shopping bags.

Her eyes closed with a sigh, blinking her stress away. She met the silent, questioning gaze of her boyfriend. She opened her jaw, and with a twitch of a muscle, she cried out, twisting her head away from them and into the pillow.

"You okay Ace?" Logan asked, rushing to her side, warm and tired hands holding her head in place. His thumbs softly circled her temples.

"No..." Rory exhaled sharply, leaning into his hold for protection or containment she didn't know. Her hands hold onto his as the throbbing nulls.

Chris had evaporated into the room with a nurse, having bolted for help when Rory cried out.

"What's going on?" The nurse approaches hesitantly, taking in the situation before approaching.

"Her head seems to be in pain." Logan explained as he took his hands away, only for Rory to tighten her hold on him to not slip his touch from her.

The nurse looks at the monitors for any other indicators before paging the doctor overseeing her care.

Soon, the while tail coat flutters into the slightly crowded room. "What seems to be the issue?"

"It huuurrrts..." Rory complained as tears rimmed her eyes, clutching Logan's hands.

"Can you describe the pain?"

"No," Rory whimpers her eyes are tight as she leans back into the pillow, letting Logan's hands stray from her head and into a clasped union.

The nurse then gives her a pain killer as the doctor instructs. It's a light one just in case, but it will relieve something.

Rory sighs as she stares at Logan, "I hate this."

"I know." He brings her hands to his lips and sits by her hip. His movements shield Francine and Chris from the tears and self-pity that descend into her mind.

"I hope she will be okay." Francine said in a very concerned way once the doctor quickly excused herself to do rounds. Her gray eyes look to her son, who slumps his posture.

"With Lorelai being Lorelai, I don't even want to know how the fight will end."

"They won't have a rift, will they?"
