Everything hurt.

Fresh cuts on my back stung, the crimson liquid still trailing down my back and staining the towels he had carefully set down on the carpeted floors.

Tears filled my eyes and I sat with my head in my hands, my entire body shaking with fear.

The door handle twitched and I glanced up, my heart skipping a beat as I expected him to step through the threshold and begin a new assault of hatred.

But instead I met a startled gaze, filled with fear I imagined mirrored my own.

"Help... me..." I reached out, trying desperately to catch Caine's younger brothers attention, but my legs gave out and I succeeded only in sending a fresh wave of pain through my body.

He watched me with confusion before backing away.

"No! Wait! Don't leave, please!"

The door shut just as quickly as it had opened and I curled into a ball, salty tears stinging my eyes.

"Save me... please..."

My breath caught in my throat at the memory and my hand seemed to move on it's own, grabbing the glass nearest to me and flinging it across the room.

It smashed against the wall and I fell to the ground, my body shaking as I grabbed my head, squeezing as if hoping that if I squeezed hard enough I'd forget everything.

Why me?

Why did I have to go through everything?

What did I do to deserve the abuse?

"What did I do to deserve the pain?" I whispered, involuntary tears stinging my eyes.

My eyes wondered to the cigarettes lying on the counter and I stood up, grabbing them and slowly walking to the back door.

I lit one with a shaky hand, dropping the lighter as the nicotine flooded through my system and calmed my nerves.

"You still haven't quit?" Ryan asked, a smirk on his lips, his hands stuffed in his pockets.

"And you still haven't gotten plastic surgery. Looks like we both failed." My remark was snide, fueled by genuine anger and hatred as I blew out smoke,"Now are you going to explain why you felt the need to plant your fatass on my lawn or can I call the cops already?"

"What's with the sudden animosity? I thought we were friends." He took a step closer and I found myself flinching, the memory of his rough hands on my skin, pressing against my thighs, hurting me.

"Is your whole family a cactus or are you the only prick?" My voice shook and he smirked wider, pretending to jump at me.

I gasped and he laughed, stuffing his hands back in his pockets.

"You've really lost your touch Ryann. First you use the same lame comeback as last time and then you get a fright. Did something happen?"

"Leave." I blew out smoke again, the cigarette shaking in my hand as I put it back between my lips again.

I turned away, preparing to walk away from him when a voice stopped me.

"Without letting me say hello? How rude."

I froze at his voice, fear flooding my veins and causing my chest to close.

"You..."

"Miss me Ryann?" Caine asked.
