Holmes Chapel... albeit my home for the first sixteen years of my life, it didn't really feel like a home.
Growing up, it was filled with cries, constant comparisons, heartache, feeling of neglect, loneliness and in some extremely rare occasions, laughter. But.. even with all that, it was my childhood nonetheless. And coming here, definitely gave me bittersweet memories. More bitter than sweet, if I'm honest.
Because really, what's so sweet about adopting the role of the 'bad twin'? Nothing. You don't get acknowledgement, acceptance, appreciation, not even recognition or remembrance. And you most definitely don't get showered with love.
But out here... away from the main town, away from where I grew up, it's a completely different story. There's a deep sense of serenity and... freedom here which overcomes me as I stare in rapture at the expanse of blue that lay before me. Under blue and sunlit skies, the view is absolutely breathtaking. With the little rays of light dancing delicately across the crystal clear water, green grass and bushes and the small birds flying and chirping in the distance. It's beautiful.
Unfortunately today, the whole place is damp and bleak, with a light grey mist hanging over the body of water, with the occasional sun rays breaking through. Maybe it's heaven's way of showing how there's still light in all these gloomy clouds in my life. Well, definitely true now that Niall's in my life.
Unconsciously, I'm wrapping my arms around him tighter, pulling him closer to me.
"Penny for your thoughts?" I hear my favourite Irish accent speak up, before his arms snake themselves around my waist. He presses a kiss on my cheek before resting his chin on my shoulder.
"Yeah, about you." I mumble, before turning myself around slightly to rest my back on the wooden railing. My arms encircle his waist, before I'm pulling him in to sit between my legs.
"Yeah? What about?" He muses with a coy smile.
"Nothing you have to worry about, all good things." I say with a smile.
"Well, okay," He pecks my lips gently. "Anyway, the rest of us are gonna go for a swim. Wanna come?" He asks.
"Are you asking so you can see me shirtless or because you're genuinely inviting me?" I tease. "And, isn't it a little too cold to be swimming? Look, it's ten in the morning and still misty."
He rolls his eyes, pinching my sides playfully. "Please. I can see you shirtless anytime I want, I don't have to ask anything." He says with a small smirk. "And, there's no such thing as too cold for swimming."
I chuckle softly. "That is true. Do you wanna see me shirtless now then?" I say cheekily.
"Eh maybe later." He pats my thigh then hoists himself up. "I'm gonna go change to my trunks. You should too unless you plan to swim in your sweats."
I stand from my spot, pulling him into a quick kiss. "Can't wait to see me shirtless, I'm assuming." I wink.
He simply rolls his eyes, then pats my chest as we start walking back to the mansion. "Nah.. I can't wait to lather sun screen on you though." He smirks, a hint of seduction in his tone.
I chuckle softly, wrapping an arm around his waist, fingers ghosting over the band of his shorts. "I'd rather be lathered in something else."
"Hmm... Moisturiser?" He raises a brow teasingly. "It's always good to moisturise."
