"Al, I need your help." I looked up from the book I was reading and cocked an eyebrow. "I already feel inclined to say no. What is it this time?" My younger sister, Melissa, cocked an eyebrow back at me. "I need you to drive me to a party."

Let's clear this up, shall we?

"You're 15 and you're going to a party? Does mom know about this?" Melissa quickly nodded. "I told her about it before she left for her trip and she gave me the usual, no sex, drugs and alcohol. Call you or get someone sober to drop me off at home when I'm done." I looked at her and paused. "You realize the brakes to my car are still fucked and dad took the car when he left for work, right?" I watched as Melissa slammed her head backwards into my bedroom door and groaned. "Right, I completely forgot. I'll try to get someone else to pick me up. Otherwise, movie night?" I gave her an apologetic smile and nodded. "Always."

"Hey," I looked up from my book again and saw Melissa walking straight into my walk-in closet to ruffle for clothes. "I'm guessing no one's picking you up and you're conveniently borrowing another sweatshirt?" She walked out of the room with yet another one of my sweatshirt that she always borrows but never returns. "Yeah. We live too far out apparently." I watched as she slowly tried to tug the zip at the back of her dress down and sighed. "Come on, grab your stuff. I'll drive you, but you'll be late. My brakes haven't been fixed so I can't go too fast." Melissa squealed and wrapped me in a tight ass hug. Things I do for this fucking family.

"Give me a call when you're done with the party even if someone's dropping you off. I want to make sure you get home safe, and remember-" "No sex, drugs or alcohol. Got it. Thanks sis, you're the best." Melissa leaned over to give me another hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Stay safe, bug." I watched as she made her way into the party before slowly driving off.

"Mother fucker," I cursed under my breath and I tried to slowly stop from a distance. The stop light just turned red and I barely managed to stop the car before what would be considered running the red light. I nodded my head along to an old Fall Out Boy track that was playing. It was a jam and it was kinda Irresistible to nod my head to. Get it? No? Okay, my bad. I suddenly felt something knock the back of my car and my own jerking forward. "Son of a bitch," I finally got the car to stop and got out of the car. I looked behind immediately, my anger creeping up on me. "What the actual fuck, man?" I looked at the driver that knocked into me and my expression softened. "I'm so sorry. I was on the phone with my sister and got distracted. Are you hurt?" I shook my head and sighed. "I'm fine but my car needs another part repaired at the fucking shop tomorrow." The girl chewed on her bottom lip nervously as she glanced between me and my car. "She's beautiful. What's her name?" I looked over at the girl and raised both my eyebrows.

Was she being serious right now?

"I call her the dark knight," I sighed and pinched the nose of my bridge. My heart ached for my baby. "Just give me your number and we can keep in touch. I'll pay for the damages." I looked at her and blinked. "Okay, give me your phone." She unlocked her phone and passed it to me before walking around my baby. "What other repair is needed? I don't see anything else. She's really well kept." I passed her back the phone and ran my fingers through my hair. "We drove through a rough road yesterday and my brakes got caught really bad. It was really loose the drive home. I was going to take it into the shop tomorrow since I've just gotten back from a 3-hour drive." The girl looked at me and frowned. "You shouldn't be driving around when you have a loose brake."

She stood thinking there then walked back to her car and turned on her hazard lights. "I'll call you a tow truck and then I'm taking you home. It's too dangerous to be driving around with a loose brake." I started shaking my head and getting into my car. "It's fine. I was just driving my sister to a party. It was a short trip there and it's also a short trip back." As I closed the door and went to put my car out of park, I looked up to see the girl standing right in front of my car, cocking an eyebrow. "You have to get past me first and I'm way too near for you to not hit me. Our cars are also just conveniently a little too near for you to back up. It's also the least I can do." I sighed again and got out. "Fine, but can I at least know your name? I'm Alexandra, Alex for short if you want." She smiled and walked over to me with outstretched arms. "Demetria, Demi for short. It's nice to meet you."
