True to her word, Demi waited with me for the tow truck and sent me back home. Turns out, we lived just a few blocks away from each other. It was a new morning and I was having breakfast with Melissa, which claimed that she didn't touch a single drop of alcohol but looks really hungover. "Come clean with me and I won't tell mom that you most definitely drank." She glared at me and let out a frustrated huff. "Fine. I drank 3 cups and that was it, I promise." I pulled her up into a comforting hug and ran my fingers through her hair. "Mel, if there's something bothering you, I'm always here. Don't ever forget that please." Melissa pushed me away and rolled her eyes. "Except you're never here. You're always off at college and it's been months since I saw you. You're only back now but you're leaving tomorrow, aren't you?" Guilt shot past me like a bullet. "I'm sorry Mel. I'm just a phone call away. I'm here now so you can talk to me and I missed having movie night with my baby sister. I'm free tonight, what do you say?" Melissa looked and through her hazy eyes, gave me a small smile.
"I just missed having you around. Mom and dad are always out of town on business trips. Even when they're back home, they're always never around. They're either at the office or having dinner with business partners. When you left for college I thought I could get used to it. You always promised that you'll come back and we'll move in together in an apartment. It's been so long and I just missed having someone that cares about me." I gave her a kiss on her head and pulled her closer to me. "I'm graduating in a few months, bug. Hang in there. Until then I'm just a phone call away, I promise." Melissa snuggled in closer to me and we continued watching Cinderella in silence.
"Al, your phone's ringing." I was knocked out of my trance and looked up from the blade in my hands. "I'll be out soon." I sighed and returned it into it's hiding place. 'You're better than that Alex. You've been clean for 6 months.' With a sigh, I flushed the toilet and walked out. "Who's calling?" I walked over to the bed and Mel shrugged. I looked over at my phone and saw that I had a text. 'Hello Alexandra. This is Kelsey, Demi Lovato's assistant. Demi has told me to inform you that your car was ready and asked if you needed a ride to the auto shop. Something about you needing to drive back tomorrow but she wasn't sure what time you were planning on leaving.' I frowned. Demi Lovato. I've heard that somewhere before. "Hey Mel, is the car home or did dad take it again?" "He took it out this morning and said he was going to the office to finalize things before leaving for another trip again." I nodded and typed out a reply. 'A ride would be nice, if it isn't any trouble. Thank you Kelsey, and Demi as well.' I set my phone down and turned to Mel. "I'm going to pick my car up soon. Do you want to come along or should I bring dinner back home?" Mel gave it a thought and shrugged. "I'll come with, I don't mind. Pizza for dinner though." I smiled at her. "Do you even need to tell me?"
Half hour later, a car pulled up in front of our house and behind the wheel sat Demi. "Hey. Hope you don't mind that my sister is tagging along." I watched as Demi freeze and looked in the rear view mirror where Mel was on her phone before relaxing. "Yeah sure, no problem." We drove along and Irresistible came out on the radio. I started bobbing my head to the beat again and heard Mel squeal from the back. "Oh my god, I love this song. Demi's vocals just slay." Demi froze beside me again. "I really don't like her. Would you mind if we changed the channel?" Her voice sounded weird, as if it was deeper. "You don't like Demi Lovato? Well, each to their own. It's your car and you can change it if I want to." Realization hit me like a ton of bricks and I looked over at Demi. Demi fucking Lovato.
Demi Lovato crashed her car into mine yesterday. Demi Lovato sent me home last night. I'm in a car with Demi Lovato. Demi fucking Lovato. Jesus fuck.
