chapter 22:Tragedy.

The Blake's hall was filled with elegantly and beautifully dressed prospective businessmen and businesswomen,friends and other important people.

Edwin Jackson Blake,dressed in an ironed white shirt in which a grey suit is worn upon it to match with an ironed grey suit trousers and grey tie,stood beside his son Tony Blake. A smile lit up his face''Today is a good day my son. I wish your mother was her,she's a big part of this''.

It was the twenty sixth anniversary of the Blake's group of companies.

''I started this business when I was around twenty four years of age with your mother. We weren't married yet. It's a pity she had to die when your sister Jasmine was just five years old. Now look at you at twenty seven years all big and grown'' Edwin said to Tony.

Tony laughed''yes father. I wish so too but I know she's proud of us and happy with us''

''Yes son,that reminds me . When are you gonna get married?'' Edwin asked.

''Father! I will get married,I just haven't found the woman yet. Talk about Fiona yet''Tony replied.

''Fiona is reckless and you're my only son. The one who's gonna carry my name when i'm gone. I want to see my grandchildren Tony. Now let me ask you son,will you be angry if Jasmine gets married before you?''Edwin looked intensely at his son.

''No father,why would I be? I would even be happy because it's going to get you off my back for a while''Tony replied.

''Okay son. The event is about to start,let's go sit down''Edwin said smiling.

''My love''someone said behind her.

Jasmine turned around smiling''oh hello handsome''she said to Albert. Albert kissed her briefly staring into her eyes he said''you my love is the most beautiful woman here tonight ''

''Thank you Albert''she said.

Since Albert and Jasmine were now dating,Edwin had allowed him to attend and be present there as a guest and Jasmine's date.

''Here I got you something''Albert said,holding out and opened navy blue box.

Jasmine's eyes widened in surprise. Is he proposing? Oh my God not now,i'm not sure;thoughts ran in Jasmine's head.

''It's a promise ring. My love,I promise you that i'll always be here for you and i'll never hurt you. you will always be right here in my heart''Albert said.

Jasmine blinked and allowed Albert to slip the ring through her finger''I love you Albert''she said and hugged him.

''I love you more my love''Albert whispered in her ear.

Applauds followed Tony as he was called upon to give a speech.

''First of all,I wanna thank you all for coming to the twenty sixth anniversary of Blake's group of companies. It wouldn't have reached this far without all of your cooperation. I'm really grateful,thank you. I'm indeed honored and happy to take over my father's position as the chairman due to his retirement. I want to promise you all that I would be very hardworking ,diligent  and focused on taking this business establishment to another level and I would not let my father and you all down. Once again i'm very grateful. Thank you all''Tony finished,smiling.

Fiona turned her head to Jessica who nodded slowly. Jessica came with Carl as his date,he was one of the many prospective businessmen. Jessica had been delighted when Carl had told her about it,Alex allowed her to go since she was in a mission to his own advantage.

Jessica turned her head upward to masked man standing discreetly in a corner upstairs signifying for him to take action. The man nodded as to say he got the message.

Tony felt very happy being the new chairman of Blake's group of companies. He smiled at Kendra who blew him a kiss from where she was sitting and resumed clapping.

Just then a gun shot was heard and gasps and screams broke out from among the people there as Tony dropped to the floor,going limp,blood gushing out form his forehead.

Edwin stood up and intended to his son when he froze and slumped,his hand clutching his chest.
