chapter 28: Funeral

All the tears Jasmine had refused to shed at the point of Tony's death was released now uncontrollably as she sat beside her father trying to console him and her herself. There wasn't much people and they weren't little either,mainly family and friends and well wishers.

The pastor got of the podium after welcoming the attendees and giving a little speech. It was her turn now to say something about her brother. Her father had been quiet, too quiet, only muttering a few words at a time after the discovery of his son's death.

She took the podium and took a deep breath in and let it out.

"My brother,he didn't deserve to die, at least not this young without achieving his dreams. His big dreams,yes my brother was a dreamer. He was vibrant and hardworking. He was so loving and no one on earth can fill his place in my life as a brother. I wondered who.could have been so wicked to kill him on his day of happiness. What could.he have done that could not be forgiven,but one thing I know for sure is that whoever did this would not go scot free"

Tears clouded Jasmine's eyes,making her vision blurry as she quickly went back to her seat beside her father who was weeping now.

Guilt reddened Fiona's face and created an itch in heart as yhe last sentence in Jasmine's speech rang in her head and self recriminations began to spark up.

How did I do this?

How could I kill him?

He did nothing wrong but to be a loving brother.

But the villian in her mind reprimanded her.

Shitup Fiona,he deserved it. After all he was standing in your way.

It was time to leave now,people were already leaving.

"Father let's go home'' Jasmine said.

"No,I want to see my son please just one last time" Edwin replied.

Jasmine looked worrisome as she tried convincing her father to leave with her,as she knew he would get upset seeing his son in a casket.

"Let me Jasmine. Let me be with him. I'll take him home"Fiona said.

"You? How can I trust you?"
Jasmine asked her.

"Please Jasmine I already feel bad for being the one that broke the bad news to father, at least let me just do this. Moreover Jasmine you look so tired, you need to rest that is if you want to be with father with all of ypur strength later" Fiona replied.

Jasmine hesitated knowing that every word Fiona just said.was.true.

"Okay,but please don't let him stay long"Jasmine said.

"Alright" Fiona replied.

"My love" Albert called.

"It is so good you're here Albert,please take Jasmine home. She needs to rest"Fiona said to him.

"It's through my love,let's go" Albert said, guiding her with his hand on her back.

"Take care of father Fiona"Jasmine said.

"Yes sister. Father,come on"Fiona said as she led her griefstricken father to the casket.

Albert and Jasmine got outside,the weather seemed cloudy. They walked silently and gently in little steps to his car when someone closely behind them called.

"Harry". It was Kylie.

Kylie had come here with Kendra for Tony's funeral.

Albert's heart screamed as he heard the name.

They turned around.

"Albert,who is she?" Jasmine asked.

"Um....Jasmine meet Kylie,someone I knew back then in Philadelphia. Kylie meet Jasmine my girlfriend" Albert introduced.

"Hi,so sorry about your brother's death" Kylie said,shaking hands with Jaamine but looking at Albert who looked away.

"Thank you. How did you know my brother?" Jasmine asked.

"He was dating my sister. Unfortunately, the relationship couldn't last long" she replied.

"Oh sorry" Jasmine said.

"It's okay. You can see her if you want" Kylie said but Albert spoke up "no no no Kylie. Look at her, she is so tired and needs to rest okay?"

"Okay"

Just then gunshots broke out suddenly from nowhere cajsing people to run randomly,some gettinv down on the floor as a van pulled up and some masked men alighted and madd straight for Jasmine.

Everything happened so fast and the next thing, Jasmine was beimg pulled from Albert's arm and shoved forcefully into the black van and was driven away.
