chapter 24:Unbelievable

"So how are you doing?"Fiona asked Jasmine as she sat on the sofa facing Jasmine.

"How do you see it?"Jasmine asked back quietly.

"You look old sister"Fiona said trying to sound humorous. Jasmine kept silent.

"Now that Tony's gone,what is going to happen to dad's business?"Fiona asked.

Jasmine looked at her,surprised she didn't ask of her father's health,but kept her cool,"I don't understand Fiona"she replied.

"Who's going to fill im Tony's position!"Fiona asked.

"Is that what you should care about now?"Jasmine asked angrily.

"But I do care about his business!"Fiona said raising her voice.

"I can't believe this sis,when did you visit father,not even once"Jasmine shouted.

"I'm not dead yet am I?"Fiona shouted back.

Jasmine shook her head"Argh! You're just impossible". Jasmine stood up and left in annoyance up to her room. Few minutes later she was dressed up,her purse in her hand walking towards the door.

"And where the hell do you think you're going?"Fiona inquired.

"It's none of your damn business"Jasmine answered vehemently.

''You know this conversation is not over"Fiona said,fire in her eyes.

Jasmine opened the door,"Oh yes it is!"she said banging the door.

Walking to her car,she got into it and turned it on,the engine juddering to life,reversing out of her car park and out of Blake's gate into the road,she headed for the hospital.

In some minutes later she was parking her car and walking into the hospital. When she got to her Father's ward,she took deep breaths in and out,then opened the door and walked in quietly,closing the door behind her gently.

She smiled but it was a sad one. Her father was awake,be was sitting up and reading a book. "Hello father"she greeted when she got closer to him. Edwain dropped the book he was reading on his lap and looked at his daughter.

"How are you doing father"Jasmine asked when he didn't respond and felt worried.

"Are you going to stand there or give father a hug?"Edwin asked smiling.

Jasmine heaved a sigh of relief and hugged him,the corners of her mouth lifting. Then she sat down on the chair beside him,holding his hand.

The smile on Edwin's face left and his face became straight,"what happened is unbelievable Jasmine". Jasmine knew he was referring to what happened on the company's anniversary.

"Where's Fiona? She hasn't come visiting since I got into the hospital"he said. At the mention of Fiona's name,Jasmine's face became stoic and she kept mute.

"Or is she in Tony's ward? How is he doing by the way?"Edwin asked.

Jasmine let out a small gasp as she realised that her father didn't know that Tony is dead.

"Dad...dad...Tony is...he..he is gone"Jasmine stuttered.

"What do you mean gone? It seems the doctor discharged him so soon,then why am I still here?"Edwin asked.

Jasmine didn't know how to answer,she didn't know how to tell her father that Tony is gone forever,Tony's dead. She didn't want him to get a heart attack the second time as she wasn't sure he would survive it this time. She didn't want to take chances.

"Why am I here then?"her father prompted. Jasmine searched for answers in her head and became distressed when she couldn't find one.

Just then,the doctor and a nurse entered"good day Mr Blake how are you doing today?"the doctor asked.

"Oh I'm doing fine thank you"he replied.

"Okay,it's time for your medicines,and we' ll check your progress medically"the doctor said.

Jasmine felt grateful for tge interruption. Her phone rang and she brought it out from her purse. It was Albert.

"Please excuse me father" she stood up and went outside his ward.

''Hello my love"Jasmine said into the phone.

"How are you?"Albert asked.

"What can I say my love,I guess i'm okay"Jasmine replied.

"How is your father?"

"He's doing better but i'm afraid"

"Why?"

"My love,my father doesn't know that Tony is dead,he still thinks that Tony is alive. I'm afraid that when he finds out he might not be able to take it"Jasmine answered.

"My love,sooner or later he is going to know,but it's best you tell him yourself. He'll feel stronger with you"Albert said.

"Alright"Jasmine replied.

"Inform the doctor to not tell him about Tony's death"Albert tells her.

"Okay. My love are you busy?"Jasmine asked.

"I'm at the restuarant but I'm not really busy"Albert replied.

''Can we meet?"Jasmine asked.

"My love,it wouldn't be convenient for you here so how about you come over to my place for dinner. I'm really sorry we can't meet now"Albert said.

"That's fine with me my love"Jasmine replied.

"Okay. Bye,I love you"Albert said.

"I love you too,bye"Jasmine said and hung up.

The door of her father's ward opened and the doctor and the nurse stepped out.

"Excuse me doctor can we talk please?"Jasmine asked.

"Yes we can"the doctor replied.

"Please I beg of you doctor do not let my father know about my brother's death,Tony Blake"Jasmine said.

"Why? If I must know''The doctor questioned.

"Doctor,i'm afraid he wouldn't be able to take it now at this fragile state and I do not want to lose my father also. He might have a heart attack again and die in the process"Jasmine explained.

"Alright Miss Blake,he wouldn't know and I will inform the nurses on that,but the sooner he knows the better"the doctor advised.

"I know. Let me be the one to tell him"Jasmine said.

"Okay then excuse"the doctor dismissed himself.

Jasmine walked into her fathers ward"Father I need to go now"

"Is everything alright dear?"Edwin asked.

"Yes father"she said and kissed his forehead.

"Bye father,take care and sleep well"she said.

"You too. Greet Tony for me"Her father said.

Jasmine swallowed,"alright bye"she said and left.
