"Fang! Come on, Fang. We're leaving," I called.
Fang came sulking out of my room, walking slowly to where I was standing at the door. I sighed and leaned down to rub his back.
"I'm sorry, buddy. You'll like Ariel. She's really nice. It's only temporary," I smiled.
I put him on the leash and opened the door to see Spencer about to unlock it.
"What are you doing here? You're supposed to be at work," I asked, handing him Fang.
"I wanted to make sure you were okay and you had everything and-"
I leaned forward and gave him a quick kiss. He chuckled.
"I was rambling again," he mumbled.
"Yeah," I replied awkwardly.
I grabbed my suitcase and put it into the back of my car.
"You're only bringing one?" he asked.
"I figure if I need anything more, you could grab it for me and bring it over to Ariel's," I replied.
He looked at me with a small smile.
"What?"
"Is it also an excuse for you to see me?" he smirked.
"Possibly," I giggled.
Spencer pulled me close and kissed me softly. I sighed, looking down and fixing his tie.
"I'm going to miss you," I admitted.
"I am going to miss you too," he whispered softly.
He pulled me into a hug, squeezing me tightly to his chest.
"I love you," he murmured into my hair.
"I love you," I replied.
I finally pulled away and got Fang into the car. I sat in the driver's seat, starting the car. Spencer came over and stood by my window. I rolled it down.
"Please be safe," I said to him.
He reached in and took my hand, kissing it.
"You're the one who should stay safe."
I nodded at him and pulled away, driving out of the drive way and to Ariel's. It was a thirty minute drive, and I tried to play music, but my mind only went to Spencer. My mind thinking about him, I arrived to Ariel's house with tears streaming down my face. She ran out and grabbed Fang as I grabbed my suitcase. We went inside and she sat me down.
"Jessica, what's wrong?" she asked, offering me a blanket.
I took it and sighed, drying my eyes with my sleeve.
"I-I'm scared."
"About?" she asked again.
"I don't want Spencer to get hurt because of me. He's too important to me and my dad might use that to his advantage. I couldn't bear seeing him getting stuck in the middle of all this hell my dad's causing," I explained.
"What are you going to do?" Ariel asked, leaning back so she could look at me properly.
"I think I have to end things with Spencer."
