I laughed at Derek and Penelope, and my few week old baby brother, Sam. He was named after Derek's father who died while on the job.
"Mom, I will be safe. And if I see anything Doctor Who and or Sherlock that I know you would like, I will buy it for you. And dad, Spence and I will be totally careful," I explained with a sigh.
"Okay, okay," Penelope said nervously.
"I just wish you were staying for Thanksgiving, sweetheart," Derek said sadly.
"We can have a huge dinner when I get home if that'll make you happy, dad," I laughed.
I gave them both a hug, including a small kiss on the nose for James. Spencer also gave them a hug. We gave small waves and went through the long process of customs. We barely said anything. The awkwardness between us was frustrating for me. I touched his arm softly. He turned around. I flashed him a small smile, gaining one in return.
"Are you alright?" I asked quietly.
"Why do ask?" he replied.
"You're being very quiet. I was just worried, that's all," I shrugged.
"I'm just anxious," he said softly.
"Of?" I replied as we sat down to wait for our flight to be called.
"Messing this up?" he admitted.
"There's nothing left to mess up, baby. We've gone through so much together... I think we can do it," I smiled.
He smiled awkwardly. I reached over and squeezed his hand.
"I love you, okay? So stop worrying, you nerd," I giggled.
With my free hand, I reached up and put a hand on the side of Spencer's face, bringing him close to give him a kiss. After a few small kisses, we both pulled away. I gave him a small smile as he blushed.
"It's like we have started dating all over again," I said quietly, "you're being so adorable and shy and I love it."
I put my hand on his thigh. He turned extremely red.
"J-Jessica!" he exclaimed quietly.
"Aw you're so adorable," I laughed, pulling away.
They called our flight and we got onto the plane. I went to put my carry-on bag in the overhead compartment, but Spencer took it from me.
"I've got it," he smiled, kissing my cheek.
I gave him a large smile and say down in my seat. He put up our bags, then sat down beside me.
"I am actually not the hugest on planes," I admitted quietly.
"Don't worry. I'm right here," he smiled.
He took my hand in his and I put my head on his shoulder.
"I've always been here."
