I have been in my room for two hours looking through my passport. First I saw a cute picture of me when I was like 5 years and I still looked the same way 10 years after.
But what I couldn't understand is my name: Oluwapamilerinayo Odeshina. So I thought my name was Erin, simple classic name not knowing it was the short form of a name I couldn't even pronounce and my Surname has always been Pierce so I am actually shocked to see another name in my passport. Just then a knock on the door interrupted my line of thoughts.

"Who dares disturb me in my chambers" I said trying to be all royal about it .
"Your Momma. Now can I come in?" She asked.
"Only if you have food" I said.
"Yes and I would show it to you if you allow me enter" My Mom said.
"Ok " I jumped off my bed and went to unlock the door. I opened the door to find my Mom holding nothing. I frowned and went back to my spot on the bed.
"You said you have food" I said pouting.
"Well there is something that teens your age do nowadays. What is it called again... oh yes Lying " she said in her dramatic voice.
"Yah hope you are not angry at me" she said pouting like one sad teenager.
"Nope but I don't understand a few things." I pointed out.
"Ok like what talk to me " she said sitting down beside me on the bed.
"Why do I have a long name?, I don't bear Odeshina so why is it in my passport?, does it have something to do with my unknown Dad?."
Mom sat up straight and started explaining things to me one at a time.
"I was raised up in Nigeria, in Ogun state to be exact. And at a very young age I was given to a certain man as a wife Mr. Toni Odeshina. Well let's just say he was not husband material-" she paused and we all laughed at that statement.
"-and he was old enough to even be my Father. I begged my parents to cancel the marriage but they didn't answer me and I think they just wanted the bride price that Mr. Toni Odeshina was willing to pay. I was not the only wife, well I was the fifth wife of the man because all Mothers in the village wanted their daughters to marry into a wealthy family. So I was always treated badly and no one respected me but Toni never looked down on me. Most people claimed he loved me more than all his other wives because of my beautiful looks but I think it was another thing. Finally when I got pregnant for you, everybody expected me to have a baby boy so that my son would be the heir of Toni wealth but... I had you and I was the happiest person on the planet. Toni loved you so much and always pampered you and that made the other wives so jealous and just like that Toni died in a so called "accident" which I think was a coup so in order to keep you safe I brought you here and changed my last name." She said and pinched my cheek.
"So if that was the case why didn't you tell me for so long?" I asked curious.
"Well because I knew you would want to go back there knowing how adventurous you are" she said in a sing song voice.
"Ok you caught me but I really wanna checkout my homeland" I said pleading.
"So instead  of travelling to Canada why don't we travel to Nigeria instead" I said proposing.
"Nope to much risks" my Mom said.
"Please" I said pleading even more.
"Nope"
"Pretty please"
"Nope"
"Pretty please with an Apple pie and a cherry on top and one single tear and puppy face" I said and gave her my cute puppy face.
"Okay... I would think about it if you make me an Apple pie with a cherry on top for breakfast tomorrow" Mom said smiling at me.
"Thank you Mummy" I said mimicking a five year old.
So all I had to do was to make her breakfast tomorrow and then I am off to Nigeria.
