"Where do you think they went?" Logan asked, his voice filled with confusion. He sounded just as confused as Patton felt. It was lunch, usually the two that were missing were the two that got down to the cafe first."Maybe they got together after Saturday and are trying to keep it unknown." Patton suggested. He smiled at the idea of two of his best friends getting together, even if it caused a small bubble of pain to rise in his chest. The feeling was foreign to him and he didn't know what it was or why it was there. He did his best to ignore it.
"Roman and Virgil?" Logan asked sceptically. "Those two are like fire and ice, which literally speaking, could never work out: fire would melt the ice. With Roman and Virgil though, there is a big chance of one of them burning the other - of course not literally in this sen-" Logan cut himself off and then preceded to correct himself. "You know what, I wouldn't put that past those two."
Patton didn't glance in Logan's direction as he continued to look around. He had to admit though that he was right. With Virgil and Roman alone together, there were too many things that could go wrong, including one possibly burning the other. Although Patton hoped they both had enough maturity and common sense not to do so. Especially since the outfit Roman wore on the daily, was highly flammable - that being one of the bigger concerns because honestly if anyone out of the two was going to be the one lit on fire, it was going to be Roman. He'd probably mock Virgil and tell him that he wouldn't dare, and then Virgil would precede to do so just to prove Roman wrong.
It wasn't until Patton noticed someone he recognized in the crowd did he stop looking. It wasn't either of the people he was looking for, but it was someone who would most likely be willing to help. "Let's ask Mia if she's seen them, after all she's good at finding people who are MIA." Not only that but she was always willing to offer a helping hand.
"Did you really just make her name into a pun?" Logan asked even though it was obvious that he knew full well that Patton had. Patton just grinned and nodded. He chirped a small 'yup' before heading over to where Mia sat with her friends.
"Sorry to bug you, but by chance have you seen Roman or Virgil?" Patton asked, looking at Mia when he spoke but then looking at each of her friends in turn. He knew a lot of them and wanted to let them know that the question was extended to them as well.
"Roman was in math, left when Virgil came to class claiming that he needed to talk to him." Mia said. She had math with Roman, not that Roman really spoke to her.
"They went to talk without you two? I would have thought you would be with them." Patton took a step back and just blinked a couple of times. He was not expecting that kind of answer - although it wouldn't have been that bad if it weren't for the tone of voice the girl used. He gaped at Mia's friend like a fish as he struggled to find something to say. That was when he realized that this was the same girl who had chased him around with a spider not too long ago. She has been with a different group of people then but that didn't mean that Patton wasn't afraid she'd find another creepy crawly death dealer to chase him around with.
Mia's friend gasped sarcastically. "Or maybe they've finally come to their senses and ditched you two four eyed freaks."
"Ashtyn!" Mia scolded.
Patton hated the way her words stabbed at him. He tried to over come the words, tell himself how wrong they were, but she had already planted the seed. Patton was left feeling uncertain and quite hurt. He wanted to back down, get out of this situation, but that's when he noticed Logan stepping forward, ready to defend them.
"Call them freaks all you want," The voice didn't belong to Logan, "but that won't change the fact that you're the one who's actually a freak. You make fun of people and bring them down so you're not the only one who's feeling shitty inside. Your the one with the insecurities that you try so hard to hide by bringing out the insecurities in other people. But guess what, we can all see through your fake self that you've built, even a blind person would be able to. So why don't you just get out of here and leave my friends alone."
Patton turned and grinned brightly at Virgil. He couldn't help but do the little excited bounce that he does when he sees puppies or something. For the first time, Virgil had said it out loud. He had actually admitted that they - or at least Logan and Patton- were his friends. It meant so much to Patton and he could feel the little cloud that had started to gather, fade away.
"Aw Virge." Patton couldn't help himself. Hearing him say that was just so cute, and made Patton feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
The girl just scoffed and got up and walked away. Not that Patton paid her any attention. He watched Virgil and the dark one glanced at him and gave a little crooked smile.

"So, what exactly were you two doing before meeting up with Patton and I?"
It was after school now. The four of them were grouped together in a loose huddle. Logan had ended up bringing it upon himself to ask the question on both his and Patton's minds. Patton could tell that Roman and Virgil had both put it off, not wanting to bring it up unless asked. Which Patton didn't really understand. What had happened that they didn't really want to talk about?
Roman glanced at Virgil with a look that said 'we have to tell them. "We talked." Was all that came out of Roman's mouth though. Patton instantly knew that as much as Roman wanted to tell him and Logan, he was going to leave it as Virgil's choice in the end.
"Yeah," Virgil agreed, "about..." he trailed off and reached up to tug on the chain that was around Patton's neck. He didn't do it hard or anything, it was more of to wordlessly tell the others without actually saying it. "We're not talking about it here though."
Patton nodded and Logan spoke, "then let's go somewhere we can."
So sorry it took so long to update. And I'm sorry that nothing too too interesting happened in this chapter. Hopefully it will be a bit more interesting in the next chapter.
