Virgil had no objections to playing truth or dare, or at least not at first. He didn't see what could go wrong. It was a harmless game after all. No one expected anything bad to come out of that game. Oh but for Virgil, it had turned out badly.

It was fine at first, weird but fine. Virgil was now wearing Roman's clothes having been dared to switch clothes with him. Patton had to lick Logan's foot, which surprised Virgil when Patton actually went through with it. Logan had to sit on Roman's lap for the rest of the game. And Roman had to let the three of them do his makeup. Many other things hand happened as well, but none as interesting as those moments.

Then the game started going down hill. It was becoming the truth or dare like when you play it around the age of twelve, would you rather say who you like or kiss someone in this room. It was getting to the point where Virgil wanted to pull out of the game. But he couldn't bring himself to do so. Patton looked to be having a lot of fun, he couldn't ruin that. Plus he feared the others would judge him if he just stopped playing the game.

So Virgil suffered through it, doing dares and answering questions that were asked. That was until Roman had touched on the topic Virgil was hoping wouldn't come up. "I dare you to show us all your necklace," Roman had said. Of course it was just Virgil's luck he had been the one Roman had blurted it out on. Upon hearing it Virgil froze. He started to panic, knowing he couldn't go through with the dare but also not wanting to tell the others the truth.

"Roman no, we don't need to be getting into all of that." Logan said instantly coming to Virgil's defence as he twisted around in Roman's lap. In that moment Virgil was actually thankful for telling Logan earlier that day. "The game is going perfectly fine without needing to touching on that topic."

Patton placed a hand on Virgil's shoulder in attempt to comfort him. "I have to agree with Logan on this one. We stay off this topic no matter how much anyone wants to talk about it." There was no joke in Patton's words which stuck Virgil as odd, but it meant Patton was serious. Roman seemed to know it as well.

Virgil couldn't help but relax. Logan knew what was going on and would help him get out of these situations. Patton may not know but he seemed to know enough. Had Logan told Patton? Or did Patton figure at out the topic at least? He looked at them both in turn before deciding that no, Logan hadn't said anything to Patton. Patton was just being Patton.

Patton was just being Patton? The thought struck Virgil as odd. Not because it was weird for Patton to act himself, but to know that Patton's actions were sincere. He would have to know Patton to judge his character. When had he gotten to the point of actually knowing Patton? When had he gotten to the point of actually knowing any of them? He knew their quirks and habits; he knew their interests and what they hated. When had he gotten to this point?

"Virge?" Patton asked, leaning forward so he could look at Virgil's face. Virgil could feel his face soften but it never lost the small bit of distrust that was almost permanently etched onto his face, even if he trusted these three fully. Even Roman.

"I can't show you my necklace," Virgil said pausing a moment to make sure he wanted to do this. Logan looked at him, raising an eyebrow, silently asking the same thing. With that look Virgil knew, he was sure.

"I don't have one." Last time he had panicked after saying those words. Just that day to be exact. And yet, this time he didn't regret saying them. What had changed so drastically in those few hours? But even if he did not regret the words this time, he could not bring himself to look at the others, worried about the expression they may wear on their faces. The last thing he wanted to see was pity - surly it was there.

"You don't have one?" Roman asked, his voice sounded shocked, like the idea of such a thing had never occurred to him. It probably hadn't really, Roman was living in a world where perfect things happened, or at least where he hoped perfect things would happen. After all they lived in a time where you could actually find your soulmate, how could the idea of that be anything less than perfect? Unless you ended up like Virgil, who never had a necklace that connected him to his soulmate.

"That's okay kiddo, I'm sure there are other people that don't have them as well. Too precious for just one person to have so they make it so they must be shared." The words were out of Patton's mouth and before Virgil could even react to them arms were around him in the most comforting way he could ever imagine. Loose at first, but then he squeezed him, putting so much emotion into the hug that Virgil couldn't even start to understand.

Virgil looked at Patton out of the corner of his eye and was shocked when he saw no pity there. Just reassurance and a sad smile. It was almost as if Patton had dealt with someone like this before. He showed no shock about the situation and just seemed so ready to handle it. Come to think of it, the only thing Patton seemed not ready to deal with was spiders, Virgil thought.

"Maybe Patton has a point, you could end up like one mans trash..." Logan trailed off leaving the saying unfinished. Virgil could feel his heart sinking slightly, having not known the saying. But upon hearing the words Patton seemed to brighten and smiled at Logan in a way that seemed like he was quite proud of him.

"And be another man's treasure!" Patton finished the saying happily, his arms tightening around Virgil slightly. He then seemed to realize what that was implying and seized the opportunity. "That is if you're o-gay with that."

Patton's grin was quite infectious, Virgil could feel the corners of his mouth curl up slightly at that. Even Logan who seemed not to feel any human emotion at times was smiling slightly. With a smile like that, it was impossible not to spread the mood. Virgil had to admit to himself that that was kind of cute, in what way it was cute, he didn't really know.

"We must try and get it back!" Roman exclaimed suddenly. Virgil couldn't help but jump slightly at the sudden noise. Roman had a tendency to talk loud even when it was unneeded.

"What are you talking about Princey?" Virgil asked quite confused as to what the creative one of the four was talking about. By the looks of it, the others seemed to be just as confused. Well at least for a few seconds before Logan seemed to realize what Roman was talking about.

"Roman no, this is not some Disney movie. There isn't some villain lurking about behind the scenes." Even as Logan said the words, Virgil could see the doubt in his eyes. Whatever they were talking about, Logan was realizing it could actually be a possibility. "Even if it was like that, we don't know for sure. You can't just assume things like this. Who do you think would have it anyway? How would we even know?"

"Wait, what are you-" Virgil cut himself off as soon as he came to the realisation of what Roman was implying. Could it really be possible? "No, you don't really think so. You clearly have been watching too much Disney movies lately. That's not how real life works."

"But just this once it might! It would explain so much wouldn't it?" The words Roman spoke rang true. It would explain a lot, Virgil knew it. So many puzzle pieces seemed to fall into place with this absurd idea Roman had in his head. But it might just be backed up by enough evidence, even if the others didn't know this evidence existed.

"Someone mind explaining what's going on here?" Patton asked, having let go of Virgil by this point. Logan glanced over at him but besides that no one really seemed to notice him speak. It wouldn't be for a few hours after that everything would finally click in Patton's mind and he would finally realize what the others were talking about.

"Whether it does or not you can't just accuse people like that. Especially people you don't know." But it really got Virgil thinking, of one of his parents did take his necklace from him and hid it, which parent took it? His mom or dad? His dad seemed like more of a suspect since he had left when Virgil was only about a year old. It would explain why he left as well. Could his mom have kicked him out if she found out what he had done?

"Okay, I may not know them but you can't just scratch out the possibility of it yet, alright?" Roman asked.

  Virgil nodded, "alright."
