Roman was absolutely ecstatic. After all these years he finally got to live in a Disney moment. Sure, it wasn't his Disney moment like he had always wished for, but it was a Disney moment nonetheless. Plus, he was on the protagonist's side. Things would go well, he was sure of it.
It was Monday now. He was sitting in his first class which he was not lucky enough to have with any of the others. And it was quite boring as well. Math.
Roman hates math, it was more of Logan's subject. Which was why he usually got him to help him with his math homework. Plus, Logan was taking advanced math when Roman was in applied math, meaning Logan obviously knew how to do all of the things Roman was learning. And it wasn't like he was the only one that went to Logan for help with math - Virgil and Patton did too, although Patton not as much.
Patton and Virgil were also in applied math, but unlike Roman they had it after lunch. Roman would have moved his schedule around to be in their class with them, but drama class was that period and if was the only drabs class running that semester. Not that there had been a semester that Roman hadn't taken drama. The semester before he had actually joined a program where he could go to a school that focused more on drama.
Roman sighed to himself, tapping his pencil on the desk. He wasn't going to do anything in this class, and he knew it. He would just wait until later when Logan could help him out with the work they now had to do. Which for some reason he found himself enjoying more and more these days. He was starting to feel quite protective of Logan, the same way he felt protective when it came Patton - and Virgil even if he didn't notice it right away.
Logan had always been different. He didn't need protecting, for he was perfectly capable of protecting himself. His tactics were a bit odd, but the way he went about things could get him out of just about any situation. Heck, Roman had watched Logan talk a teacher out of giving him detention before. Roman still owed Logan something in return for that, now that he thought about it.
"Roman, there is someone here to see you." The voice jerked Roman out of his thoughts and he looked up from his paper. He didn't even need his eyes to focus, a quick blur of black and purple told him exactly who it was. There weren't many people who would wear those colours and ask from Roman.
Roman made a quick grab for his things and shove them in his bag. Then before anything could be said, he was out the door, pulling Virgil with him. As soon as he was out the door he could feel weight falling off his shoulders. Math was just simply horrible.
"So why am I being graced with your presence, Hot Topic?"
"Graced with my presence? That's got to be the st-" Virgil cut himself off, and shook his head slightly. "You know what, we don't have time for that. We have to go."
Roman couldn't help the confused look that made its way into his face. He could feel his forehead crinkle in confusion. "Go? Go where? Where are we going?"
Virgil just gave him a look. To most it would look like pure annoyance but to anyone who knew Virgil, it said something. They didn't have time to discuss it now. Or at least they couldn't discuss it here.
Virgil led Roman down the hall, to a part of the school he had never been before. It was dark and seemed run down. An older part of the school that wasn't used much anymore, Roman guessed. It was even lacking the florescent lighting that lit up the rest of the school, which caused a sense of unease in Roman.
"Okay, I really mean it this time; where are we going?" Roman asked, his voice coming out more confident than he thought it would, but even then it still wavered slightly.
"Somewhere." Was all Virgil responded with. That did nothing to calm Roman's nerves. If anything they activated his overactive imagination. He started wondering things along the lines of Virgil really being the villain and was now leading him away from everyone so he could kill him. For what reason though, Roman has no idea. As far as he knew he had done nothing wrong. But then again he wasn't one for thinking that he could have possibly done anything wrong.
"Virgil, seriously..." Roman didn't continue, he didn't have to. His worried tone was enough for Virgil to know that Roman was starting to feel a bit uneasy. Roman knew Virgil recognized the tone from how often it seemed to be in his own - although it wasn't as often now since he had the tree of them to rely on.
Virgil sighed. "We just need to talk."
"Talk?" Roman asked, his voice coming out a higher pitch than he meant it to. "You're bringing me to a practically abandon part of the school so we can 'talk'?!"
Virgil stopped walking and turned to look at Roman. He looked so done with the whole situation already. It was almost like he wished to sink into the floor and be done with this. "Yes, talk." Virgil said. "We need to talk about curtain things that we can't have anyone overhearing. I don't know if you've noticed, but the school has video cameras that actually record voices."
"They d-?" Roman was cut off almost as soon as he opened his mouth.
"Yes, they do. They have them in case of bullying or anything along those lines goes down, that way they know exactly what happened and who started it. Lucky for us, I know that there are none of those down here."
"And how did you go about finding this out, Jack Smellington?" Roman asked, putting his hands on his hips using as much sass as he could muster in that moment. Which wasn't a lot, of he was being honest. But nothing about it was said.
"I notice things is all." Virgil said before he started walking once again. "I didn't exactly have friends before, so I had plenty of time to explore and figure things out."
Virgil's words only made Roman feel guilty. Which he thought was kind of stupid, after all it wasn't his fault that Virgil had had no friends. But remembering how rude he had been to Virgil upon their first meeting came to mind. That wasn't his fault though, right? And it wasn't like they weren't friends now.
"Okay, so what do you need to talk to me about?" Roman asked, his curiosity growing. A whole bunch of things coming to mind due to his overactive imagination.
"I'm sure you know." Virgil said. And that was all Roman needed to know before he picked up on what Virgil was talking about. And from the sound of the others voice, he had found out something about his missing necklace.
So sorry that this is a shorter chapter. Hopefully I'll get the next chapter up soon. It will be going back to the original pattern for the POVs now. Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. And have a wonderful morning/ afternoon/ evening/ night.
