I followed her car out of the parking lot to a little corner cafe. I parked next to her.
"Aw, this is a cute cafe." I said as I hopped out if my car.
"Yeah, Cafe Diem, I discovered it when I was exploring the town the other day. Apparently it has the best milk shakes around." Jessie said and walked into the front entrance.
The waiter placed us in a booth in the corner of the cafe.
I looked at the menu, "I guess I'll just have a sandwich." I told Jessie.
"Yeah, me too." She said.
We both got up and walked towards the place where they had the different kinds of sandwiches on display.
"I'll have that one," I pointed to the sandwich. I walked up to the cooler thing and got out a Snapple. My slogan isn't Got Milk, it's more like Got Snapple or Ice Tea, but they didn't have that.
I sat down and waited for Jessie. She sat down across from me.
"Can I tell you the real reason why I moved her. Charlie already knows it, but that's because she managed to figure it out on her own and asked me about it." Jessie blurted out.
That's Charlie for you folks.
"Yeah, sure." I tried to keep the excitement out of my voice because she felt like she could open up to me.
"I came here because some people back at my old school kept making fun of me. I know, it's a stupid reason to move. But, you see." She thought of a way to put it. "I told a girl something then she spread a rumor around and then the whole school knew. Plus, everyone just ignored me. And I, just had to get out of that place. My Dad getting that job was just plain luck."
I wondered what she had told that girl. I wished I could've asked, but I didn't want to push her. "I had the same thing happen to me once. Just I didn't have to leave the school, and she didn't spread rumors, but she did stop talking to me." I told her, trying to show her that I kind of knew what she was going through.
She seemed relieved, "I've been wanting to tell you that. Even though I've known you for barely a month, I feel like we're close. You know?"
"Yeah."
She smiled, "So, now that we're best buddies. Who do you like?"
"Wow, you change subjects quick." I took another bite of my food. "I...don't have a crush."
"You sure? It's not someone close, or is it and that's the reason why you won't tell." Jessie said.
"Oh, believe me. They are closer than you think." I took a sip of my drink. "So, who do you have a crush on?"
"I have a crush, but it will never work out because I learned that they like...different type of people than I am." She sighed.
What does she mean by that? I asked myself, clueless.
"But anyways."
"Yeah?" I asked.
"I-I'm going to, to tell you something and you promise not to freak out like that...girl from my old school did?" She put her sandwich down and looked me straight in the eye, "You won't freak out, no matter what I tell you."
I looked back at her, "I promise."
"Blake, I think I'm-" was all that she got out.
"Hey, Package Girl."
I turned around. I really just wanted to scream fuck off to Mystery Boy, but it didn't matter because the 'mood' was gone, passed, no more.
"Hey Mystery Boy." I said. And fuck you too. I added in my mind.
"I like that name, don't you?" He turned to a boy, that I didn't even realize was there.
"Yeah, it's cute." The boy said.
"I like it, but I like my real name more. I'm Seth," he held his hand out for me to shake it.
I took it, "I'm Blake, and this is Jessie." I turned to face her. I caught her eye before she looked up at Seth. Did I just catch a hint of jealousy in her eyes? No.
"Oh, and this here is Harley Waters." Seth said, pointing to a boy with brown hair.
Ha ha, okay now leave. I thought, wishing I could just blurt it out. Ugh, I was so frustrated, right when Jessie and I were about to get there, someone had to ruin it. I felt like I was apart of a story and the author of it just didn't like me or just didn't want me to get anywhere with my love interest.
"Why don't you sit with us?" I heard Jessie say, dragging me out of my thoughts.
Seth sat down next to me and Harley sat besides Jessie.
"So ladies, what brings you here?" Harley asked.
"Waters, obviously hunger." Seth said, pointing to our unfinished food.
"Oh." Harley was shot down like a goose flying in the sky.
"I'm going to use the ladies room." Jessie suddenly got up.
"Aren't you going to go with her? You know, the buddy system." Harley asked.
"Ew, gross. I hate that! Why would you want to go in a stinky bathroom, just to hear your friend pee? Like really?" I said.
"Try walking into the bathroom and seeing two guys having a," Seth looked at all the kids around, "wand fight." He finished.
I didn't even try to picture that in my mind and even though I was angry at him, I couldn't help but to laugh.
I guess this...crashed dinner worked out fine. Jessie, I think had a pretty good time and so did I.
It was the end of the night and Jessie and Harley were standing outside.
"Hey, do you mind if I asked for your phone number?" Seth said as we walked off from the check out line.
Oh no, here comes the uncomfortable part. "Seth, you're a sweet guy and all but-"
"You're in love with Jessie."
"What!" I said, appalled.
"I can see it in your eyes, I was hoping it was only my imagination. But, I know when someone is in love because I use to give a certain girl that same look your giving to Jessie." He sighed in disappointment, "Just, don't be a chicken and wait. It won't do you any good."
I looked up at him, "Oh, okay. You know, you're such an amazing guy and I think that after knowing you for barely a day."
"Thanks, but can I still have your number?" He asked.
I smiled and gave it to him. We walked out of the store and went our separate ways. I was walking with Jessie, in silence when I heard my name called out. I turned around, Seth was shouting at me.
"If you have any cute single girl friends, text me!"
I nodded my head and rolled the piece of paper with his number around in my hand.
A/N: So, Seth is my favorite character because he's just such a sweetheart, he's that guy every girl wants, right? Well at least I want a boy like him. Well his personality may not show now, but it will soon enough. Unfortunately, Seth isn't based on anyone...darn.
When I first introduced him to my friend, she just hated him. Absolutely hated him because I told her that The MailGirl and I was turning into, The Mystery Boy and I...I even re-edited the story cover and crossed out the MailGirl part and put Mystery Boy in its place. She freaked out and told me not to break up her OTP. But by the end of this chapter, she loved him.
Anyways, hope you liked the chapter and sorry for any mistakes.
