Birthday

It's been about two weeks since Jessie and I met Seth and Harley. Unfortunately nothing big has happened between us, but that could be because I haven't made a move because I'm just a chicken. A very big chicken who can't even ask Jessie to go to the movie theaters alone.

But it was almost September Twelfth and that is my birthday. Whoo whoo. Only, that would be three days away.

I woke up, tired, unwilling to go to school, feeling like seeing Jessie and just run up to her and kiss her, and the need to pee. You know, same old, same old.

"Sweetie, what do you want to do for your birthday?" My Mom asked when I trudged my way downstairs.

"Um, few friends over. Movie in the zombie filled basement." I said.

"Okay, what day?"

"Well, my birthday is on a Friday this year, so on my actual birthday?" I asked before putting some food in my mouth.

"Okay, tell your friends," she walked out of the kitchen, "but only three of them can come!" She added from the stairway.

I put my dishes in the sink and ran out to my truck, Old Billy (Charlie gave it that name. Don't ask).

Today I was driving Mandy to school. Mandy still doesn't have a car, might be because her parents think she might pay more attention to her phone than the road.

"Hey," Mandy said as she scrolled through her phone. Probably twitter, Charlie and I tried that, didn't work. We could not figure out how to work the damn site.

"Hi." I drove to school. I hopped out of the car and walked up to Charlie, who was in the middle of giving Ryan a noogie.

"Don't mess up the hair, it took hours Charlie!"

"Is that why you were so late this morning? I was waiting for you in my car for like ten minutes!" Charlie stood straight up.

"The hair," Ryan pointed to the top of his head, "must be perfect."

"You guys totally need to date." I told them. Their reaction every time someone says that ranges from blushing uncontrollably to screaming 'no' at the top of their lungs. It's pretty funny. This time they were blushing.

We walked into the school and found Alex, "Hey!" I yelled.

Alex looked up and saw me. She just waved.

Charlie and Ryan went to print something out because Ryan forgets to do things a lot. Mandy and Alex went to ask their science teacher something. Which left me sitting alone like a loner on the couch.

Someone sat down next to me, "Hey Superman." Jessie said.

"What?" I thought back to that night Charlie and I spied on Ryan and her. She said she was waiting for her Superman.

"Your shirt."

I looked down, "Oh."

"So, a little birdie named Charlie told me it was your birthday on Friday." Jessie started to casually braid my hair.

"Yeah, that reminds me. Would you like to attend my party at my house after school?" I asked.

"I'd love to attend. Could you perhaps give me a ride there?"

"Of course." I said.

She got up and held out her hand for me. I took it. We walked to art together.

I was almost done with my portrait, I know it shouldn't take this long, but I want to make every little detail perfect.

After that class I kind of just ignored the rest of my classes until lunch. While I was walking to the commons my phone buzzed.

'Hey Package Girl, don't delete this number! It's NOT an axe murderer, it's only Mystery Boy.' It was Seth who texted me.

'Okay, but how to I know for sure you're not an axe murderer?" ~Blake

'Well, I guess you're going to have to take a chance and leap.' ~Seth

'But the reason why I have texted you is because I ran into a lovely girlfriend of yours named Charlie.' ~Seth

'Damn, that girl is everywhere' ~Blake

'She told me that you have yet to make a move. I need to help you with that. My Dad owns a camp site that's closed for one night. I don't know why this specific night, but it's October 10th and you and Jessie are going to the lake.' ~Seth

'What? I can't get her to go there!' ~Blake

'Just try, just think about it. Text me when you decide, later Package Girl' ~Seth

I put my phone in my pocket. "Who's that?" Jessie asked.

"Just Seth, hey did you know that Charlie knows him?"

"Seth!" I heard Charlie's voice, "Yeah, he works at my camp. Last summer we worked in the same group." She walked up to us.

"Oh."

We ate lunch and I survived the rest of the day. I barely survived the next three days because Mr. Gold thought it would be a great idea to act out Romeo and Juliet...for "fun". Somehow I got stuck with the role of freaking Juliet and, the universe just hates me, Todd was Romeo. I had to pretend kiss him, I slapped him because he tried to actually kiss me and then said, "Fuck no boy." I was sent to the guidance office. It was worth it.

But this morning I woke up, thinking today would be a totally different because it was my birthday.

"Morning honey." My Mom handed me my birthday breakfast. I ate, all of it, really, really fast.

I thanked my Mom and ran out the door. I hopped into Old Billy. Oh god, that sounds so wrong. Nice going Charlie.

I walked into school and was bombarded by Charlie, Mandy, and Jessie. They all ran up to me, screaming happy birthday. Pushing a few people over in the process.

"Birthday punches!" Charlie screamed and slammed her fist into my shoulder.

"I want to do them too!" Jessie punched me, "Shit, screw you and your freaking rowing!" Jessie shook her knuckles.

Mandy held out her phone, "Birthday selfie!"

"It's actually a photo, you're just taking a photo of people." Charlie added. Mandy rolled her eyes. "Ugh, the youth today." Charlie mumbled.

We all said cheese, and just like that photo, my school day was just a snap and a click away from over.

I walked out of my classroom, Jessie jumped into me. "Hey, hey! Let's get ready to par-tey!"

We walked to my car together. Tonight, was defiantly going to be fun.

A/N: Sorry I haven't updated in so long, school started and well yeah...school.

Oh, and the twitter thing is true, I have one but can't figure out how to work it.

(Just so you know, which I probably don't need to say, but the photo is just a photo of random people, it's not what Todd or Blake look like.)
