What a powerful soul
Encased in a weakling's body
What powers lie in those palms
Attached to weak, fragile fingers
What dreams haunt in the corner of that mind
How many nights have the eyes missed
Over that spine slaving for an art,
That's likely to be overlooked?
What substance has stuck onto the fingers:
Charcoal, paint, sweat or blood?
What images did the inner eye see?
What did the mind wish to create?
But how many failures has been made--
How close to giving up it is
What a wild heart
How sad it is to see it
Trapped in fleshy confines,
Beating day after day
Trying to knock down its' bars
Only to discover
There is no way out
There is no life out
What a genius
Trapped in a doubter's mind
What a failure
She thinks she is.
