Number ten is your best friend

Ten-

I awoke covered in Claus's jacket. I sat up and rubbed my face,”Claus?” I mumbled tiredly.

My senses came back to me and I noticed a pair of boots a little ways away from me. I stood up taking the jacket with me. I then picked up the boots, I furrowed my eyebrows at them then noticed a shirt even further. I picked it up, then some pants, then some socks...and then I finally caught on, when I was at the river. I sighed setting his clothes down and looking for him.

I caught sight of him in neck high water his eyes closed. He looked relaxed,”Hey Naked.” I called out teasingly.

Claus opened his eyes slowly then rolled them,”About time you woke up. Go get my bag and bring it here. But do it slowly, I wanna get dressed.” he ordered swimming to the shore.

I nodded and left to get it. I took a few minutes like he said. I came back to see he had put on his shirt and pants. The pants were rolled up to about under his knees. I dropped the bag by his feet and he dug around the inside pulling out a bottle of soap,”Come on.” he said walking a little ways into the water.

“I've got all my clothes on.” I laughed a little. I stopped laughing when I looked at his face. “Wait you want me to get-” Claus nodded,”Take ‘em off, don't be shy.”he chuckled waving me over. I blushed madly, but I listened to him undressing myself hesitantly.

God I can't believe I'm going to let this guy bathe me like a child. My face was probably a bright red as I got into the water. It was cold, I covered my face with my hands. “It could be worse.” Claus chimed,”I could be naked with you.”

“That doesn't make it better!”

He laughed before dunking me into the water by my shoulders. I came back up my hair now soaked. I sat quietly as Claus proceeded to rub soap into my hair,”You don't have to be dirty all the time.” he murmured,”I'm gonna fix it.”

I let out a sigh of content as his fingers ran through my hair . The only thing that could make this better is me not being naked, which is still  n o t okay.

“I'm gonna dunk you.” Claus said softly before lowering me into the water and rubbing the soap out of my hair. He brought me up and left to get something from his bag he threw a cloth at me,”Wash your body, I'll do your face afterwards.” he said. I obliged thanking the heavens that he wasn't doing that for me.

After I finished up Claus scrubbed my face with a different, better smelling rag. I cringed a little when it scratched at my cheek. He finished then got up,”I'll let you get dressed.” he said pulling his pant legs down and putting on  his boots and jacket,”I'll go a little ahead, not far though.” he then left. When he was out of my field of vision I sighed and started to get dressed.

As I did I looked at my arms. Woah, since when was I so pinkish? Was I really that dirty? That's actually kind of disgusting. I let out a hiss before putting my clothes on, they were a little damp from Claus spraying them with something. Jeez what a mom he is. I'm glad he's here though. I made my way through to where Claus had disappeared carrying his bag and supplies with me. When I found him he took them from me so he could carry them. “We should keep going. Get as far as possible before they get suspicious.” I nodded,”Hey by the way, what did you spray all over my clothes.” Claus chuckled,”It's vinegar, to make you not smell like yourself. I used it on mine too.” he explained. “Oh.” I said looking at my shirt,”Okay…” Claus then stepped over a log,”We're gonna find the next town, buy some things, and keep moving.”

“Yeah that's the thing.” I interrupted,”What exactly is gonna happen if they find us?” Claus's expression darkened,”They'll brainwash me again…and kill you.” I didn't reply thinking it wasn't really the right time anyways. Claus was brainwashed…why? Why would he have to lose anything of his past. And how could he remember now? I decided to drop it as Claus stopped,”Twoson.” he stated,”Trade city now. Perfect.” he said before heading towards the small town. I haven't been here in a long time…

“Look out for anything useful for us, okay. But don't give anyone our names.” Claus whispered. I nodded quickly walking in a different direction then Claus did. I looked around the small tents with men and women yelling slogans and offered to sell pretty useless things. Like who in the world would want a yo-yo that kills people, that's ridiculous! I strolled around noticing that people were giving me strange looks. What was wrong with….I then realized what it was when I stepped in front of a mirror. Holy shit I look weird compared to them. My cheeks were a bright pink compared to my other skin. My hair was shiny and neater too. My clothes looked...this shirt had white on it? I took in every little detail on myself, I don't look….bad. In fact I feel a little…

Amazing! I mean gosh who knew I had this face~ I laughed at myself before leaving the mirror,”Ninten? Ninten is that you?” a voice called. I turned.

“Of course it's not, that guys too clean.” another voice hissed. I looked to see a girl with a pink shirt and a small skirt that was a little torn. Atop her head was a bow, beside her was a boy in a bright red but smudged shirt and silvery hair. I recognized him immediately,”Lloyd!?” I screeched out before running to the two and tackling the boy in a hug,”Oh my god it's so good to see you!!” I gushed. The girl beside him laughed,”Told ya so.”

“Oh shut up Paula!” Lloyd scowled as I let him go,”You look great.” I smiled at him. Lloyd adjusted his glasses,”You look...different.” he said then looked at the girl,”This is Paula, you remember her from grade school right?” I thought for a moment then nodded,”Of course, you hung out with Ness all the time-”

“How is he?” Paula interjected she looked worried. I chuckled,”He's doing great don't sweat it.” I assured. She sighed softly. “Well, I have to be going.” I said. “Going? Where?” Lloyd asked. I put my hands up waving them around,”It's not important.”

“Okay but be careful out there.” Paula warned,”I assume you've heard the news?” I blinked,”What news?” Lloyd let out a sigh,”Well thank the stars you're still alive so we can tell you now.” I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. Paula went on,”The Empire had issued a warning that one of its officers has gone rogue. They say that they're dangerous and there's a huge reward out and everything.”

“How big?”

“Pretty big, but don't you go looking for them. I don't want you hurt.” I let out a fake laugh,”I won't, do you know what they look like?” Lloyd nodded,”They sent a picture, red hair, pale, and kinda tall. Keep your eyes out.” I clenched my jaw then smiled,”I will.” I said through clenched teeth. “Uh Ninten, you okay-?”

“IjustrememberedIneedtobesomewhere!” I blurted out before running as fast as I could down the direction I saw Claus leave in. I caught sight of him and quickly grabbed him dragging him into an alley. “Ninten, what's wrong?” he asked confused. He was holding a bag with various items,”We have to be leave right now.”

“What? Why?”

“They're looking for you.” Claus looked shocked,”That fast?” he looked bewildered. “Okay.” he said,”We gotta get out of here.”
