Let go

The chatting at the table continued for a good while. Everyone was having fun, and Labradorite came back soon. They were talking about humans, fusion, the Diamonds and their backstories. They continued to talk for quite sometime.

HPT: "... and then we travelled for hundreds of years, and we eventually came here, and became Crystal Gems."
P: "That story sounds so romantic everytime! I come across backstories like this seldom!"
F: "The reasoning to that is probably that you spend most of your time here with us."
P: "Oh, yeah."

Pezzotsite snickered.

P: "My apologies! Haha."

Emerald smiled. He started to become attached to these gems. Though, Emerald was missing Opal. She had been with him everyday for about a thousand years now, so this was quite new to Emerald.

M: "So, what's our next topic?"
H: "Well I don't know about you guys, but I'd like a little trip to space. Anyone in?"
L: "I could come."
J: "You?"
H: "Woah, L, are you sick?"
L: "You know well I can't become sick. I just want to come, since I haven't been in a ship in a long time."
P: "If that's the case, I'll come too!"
M: "I'll stay here and uh.. guard Amethyst's gem."
H: "Oh come on Moonstone! I know you want to come too!"
M: "Well, actually,-"

Just on the right time to save Moonstone from everyone pressuring her to come with them, Amethyst's gem began to rise, and glow extremely brightly. The other gems had to cover their eyes a little. Amethyst's physical form was only a white little ball at the back of her gem, but soon it grew into a normal 'body'. Emerald waved at her.

E: "Hello. Sorry for not protecting you."
A: "A-ah, it's okay. You couldn't have done anything.."
H: "Are you going to come on our crazy space adventure?!"
R: "You said it would be just a short flight."
H: "It can turn into an adventure in seconds!"
E: "Maybe I could come too. You know, if our pilot gets poofed again, I could do her job."
HPT: "That's a brilliant idea. Once we got stuck in space for hours when Howlite somehow managed to get herself poofed and we didn't have a spare pilot."
H: "It wasn't my fault! Those Idiotworld gems were shooting at me and of course I had to throw something back at 'em! Jeez."
F: "You all should just go before I lose my mind because of you. I can't stand your arguing."
H: "Okay okay party pooper. Let's go! Last one at the ship is a corrupted gem!"

And so Labradorite, Emerald, Pezzotsite and Howlite began to run to the ship. Labradorite was the first, since they could fly to the ship. Howlite was the second, Emerald the third and Pezzotsite the last.

P: "Ugh, I'm so terrible at running. I'm the corrupted gem."
E: "Hey, come on. You're not that bad. I would've lost if I hadn't ran as fast as I could. You're great at running."

Pezzotsite looked at Emerald for a second, but then looked down, blushing a tiny bit.

P: "W-well thank you.."
E: "No problem! But let's go now. I bet Howlite won't wait for long."
P: "Oh! Yes! Let's go!"

Pezzotsite grabbed Emerald's hand and ran into the ship.
Howlite was already on the pilot's seat, starting the ship. Labradorite was sitting on a seat, and Emerald and Pezzotsite joined their company.

L: "The worst part about being in a ship is the start. Like, there's a million things that could go wrong."
E: "There's a million things that can go wrong in every part of being here. Why is the start scaring you in particular?"
L: "It's not 'scaring' me. I just hate it. And I have bad memories of SOMEONE crashing the ship when we just started the flight."
H: "Not my fault!"

Howlite barked from the pilot's seat. Labradorite rolled their eyes. They then looked at Emerald.

L: "So why did you decide to become a pilot?"
E: "I didn't 'decide'. It has been my job since-"
L: "Oh yeah I forgot. I hate that system. I hate Homeworld."
E: "You seem to hate lots of things."
L: "Oh you don't even know."
P: "So what things do you like?"
L: "Well... I... like fusion..."
P: "Nothing else?"
L: "Well I like Lapis and Peri, obviously."
E: "That all?"
L: "You'll find out what stuff I like and what I don't. Later."

Emerald nodded. The ship began to rise as Howlite turned its engines on. Labradorite began to hold tight onto their seat. Emerald looked at them, a little weirded out. This was such a normal thing for him that he didn't really react to it anymore.
Howlite started flying the ship towards the sky. Labradorite seemed to be extremely anxious. Some water started to flow around them.

L: "S-sorry."
P: "It's totally okay!"

Emerald nodded.

E: "It's okay to be afraid. I was really scared when your crew destroyed my ship and kidnapped me. It's alright though, since nothing happened."
L: "N-nothing? Did you just ignore the fact that you're probably going to stay here with us permanently, and your friends and everything will probably just move on in a couple of years and forget ?!"
E: "It-it doesn't matter, to me. I have friends. You are my friends! Screw Homeworld! Ya hear me? I'm going to stay here!"

Labradorite and Pezzotsite stared at him in shock. Those words were never meant to escape his lips, but now they did. He was a rebel. Like them. Labradorite took a serious expression.

L: "You're right. I don't have a reason to be afraid. If you're going to let go of your entire purpose and role in the Homeworld system, I'm going to let go of my fears!"

Labradorite slowly loosened their grip on the seat, and put their hands in the air. The water around them splashed down. Emerald and Pezzotsite smiled widely. They were happy about Labradorite's desicion. The trip to space continued.
