"I'm confused. Why are you here?" I questioned.
"Yes, why are you here?" Nick asked while his jaw clenched.
"If it wasn't for Sage, I wouldn't be," he said. "Aren't you gonna let me in?"
I looked up at Nick who looked down at me and sighed. He shifted away so that Tristan could enter the house. Nick closed the door, and then we all walked to the living room.
"So..." Nick trailed, indicating that Tristan should start talking.
"My brother and Ice were in a meeting today. I overheard them talking about attacking you, Carter," Tristan said.
"And why are you telling me this?" Nick asked.
Nick kept a calm, uninterested face, but I could see the curiosity in his eyes.
"They're on their way to shoot up this house," Tristan answered. "My brother and his gangs went to their storage place to load up, so I'm guessing you have about ten minutes."
"How do I know you're not lying? How do I know you're not trying to get me out of the house so I can be ambushed?" Nick questioned.
"Because then Sage would get hurt too," he answered. "They're not only targeting you, but also everyine around you. I advise that you call up your gangs and let them know what's going on. Get Sage somewhere safe. A war is coming."
With that said, Tristan left the house.
I nervously looked in Nick's eyes, panic- most likely -evident on my face.
"Let's go," he said.
"What? Where?" I asked.
Nick only whistled, and down the steps came his three dogs.
"Back door," he said as he led the way.
The back door led to a garden I didn't even know existed. A pathway was clear and lead to the forest.
As we cintinued walking, Nick took out his phone and dialed a number.
"Yo," Nick said once the person answered. "Red. Blue. 6. 25."
He then hung up and took my hand in his. I looked up at him in fear if what would happen.
"I know you're scared," he said. "Nothing will happen to us."
"You don't know that," I argued.
"I do," he smiled while pointing to a cabin.
We entered the cabin, and Nick turned on the lights. Inside the cabin held a bunch of weapons.
I watched as Nick slipped on a bullet proof vest and loaded himself with weapons. 3 knocks sounded on the cabin door, startling me. Nick tipped his head to the door, indicating that I should open it while he continued getting ready. I opened the door and smiled when I saw all of Nick's 12 gangs. The cabin was surrounded by men, and Junior, Kendall, and Nathan stood in the very front.
"Come in, we have to load up," Nick said to them.
It was a good thing the cabin was massive. Men threw each other guns and passed along other weapons. When they were all loaded, Nick gave them an approving nod.
"Kendall, Sage, Tasha, Sasha, and Blue, follow me," he directed while leading us further in the cabin.
He lifted a rug off the ground, revealing a hidden door. He pulled the handle up and led us down the stairs. Nick handed Kendall and I flashlights and said, "Make two lefts and then a right. There's gonna be a door that leads into a very long tunnel."
