25 and a half. Another Poem from Iyden

499 19 6

If I took,

All the pills,

They'd given me,

I would not be able

to take it.

The thought

of the drugs swirling

inside of me

made my head spin even more

Than it already does.

The darkness,

Which manifests itself

In the spaces of my mind

that aren't crowded with

panic and fear,

Grows out of me,

Infecting everything I do.

The way I want to slice

Open

Every part of my body,

with the knife I've required

Is demanding:

Obsessive

Bloody

Addiction.

Just one more time,

One more red line

That is etched onto my arms

And my legs

And my wrists.

Go on,

One more time.

Swallow,

And one day,

It'll all go away.

Errers put the poem in the file marked 'Iyden Hecks', and finally came to a conclusion. The boy was mentally ill, unstable... He couldnt place what had happened to him, but he guessed he'd never know. Errers pushed his hair from his face: God, he needed a hair cut.

Knock.

Errers jumped out of his skin, and turned around to see a student in his A Level class standing by the door of his classroom. It was Haydrian Hecks, Iyden's older brother.

"Haydrian, how are you?" Errers asked, quickly putting away Iyden's work so Haydrian couldn't see. Haydrian shrugged, this thin shoulder's bouncing up and down.

"I'm alright sir, it's just...I need to ask you a favour, if I can."

"Of course you can, Haydrian." Haydrian was a great English Literature student, Errers would do anything to help the boy.

"Sir...my brother has had a difficult time recently...something happened, and I fear that he'll do something stupid..."

Errers nodded, not sure what he was nodding at.

"And...I was wondering if you could keep an eye on him?" Haydrian fnished, looking ashamed.

"Of course I can, Haydrian." Errers said, clapping his hands together. Now was his chance, he could ask! "And um, Haydrian...may I ask you something in return? What is wrong with your brother?"

Haydrian felt something churn inside him, and he took a deep breath. He could feel a touch of anger rising, mixed with concern and fear.

"To be honest sir, it's not really any of your business." he said simply with a small smile, and he promptly left the classroom, hearing Errer's sigh behind him.
