· Lynn POV ·

Four days. It's been four days since Ava Paige was killed. Three since the immunes arrived at the Safe Haven. And now, here I am, unemployed. All the workers of WICKED are. In fact, I am currently on my way there, to get all my belongings before leaving. My lab wasn't in the main building so luckily it didn't burn down. It's no longer safe here, or anywhere for that matter.

My name is Lynn. I have tanned skin, light lips, and curly black hair. I am wearing my white lab coat and black flats as I passed the remains of the last city.

I was nearly at WICKED when I heard a muffled groan. I look to my left to find a dirty blond-haired boy on the ground. As I got closer to him, I realized he was only sixteen or seventeen. I leaned down beside him and for a second, it seemed like he's dead.

I checked his pulse. He was alive. Oh god, he may be alive, but his pulse is very low.

It took some time, but I managed to get him to WICKED. We passed by some people, but they didn't seem to notice us. Probably too worried about where they are going to go from now on.

We entered my lab and I set him on the operation chair. He was still unconscious, but hopefully not for long.

I check his condition first. I think that he was probably... wait. I take a close look at his head and realize that he had been shot. But that was impossible, a bullet to the head means that he should've been dead before I found him.

But then I noticed something else. But I had to do some tests before I can determine if my theory is correct.

· Narrator POV ·

After six hours, the dirty blonde-haired boy started to slowly gain consciousness. It was nearly sunrise at this point, and Lynn had fallen asleep after tending to the boy. He groans, causing Lynn to to wake up. She immediately rushed to his side.

She put her hand on his forehead and checked his temperature. He was definitely getting better now that his wounds were treated. His eyes slowly opened.

"Bloody hell?" He had a thick British accent and dark brown eyes. "Who the shuck are you? More importantly how am I shucking alive?!" He started panicking and yelling question after question to the girl.

"Please calm down. I promise I'll explain everything." She said, slowly and calmly. He nodded but didn't say anything.

Lynn explained to him how she found him and brought him to the lab. She told him how she treated his wounds. The she got to learn his side of the story. Lynn found out that his name was Newt and he was in the maze, but wasn't immune. Her eyes got watery when he told her why he was shot.

"But I don't get it, why am I alive? How?" The girl sighed before she started explaining to the poor boy.

"Well when you were unconscious I did a few tests on you. Apparently when your friend shot you. The bullet was like a counter attack to the flare. They cancelled each other out. Not only that but it stopped you from getting the flare completely."

It took Newt a few seconds before he realized what she meant.

"Newt, your immune."

His eyes widened as a tear slipped down his cheek. He let out a soft laugh before turning it into a frown. "B-But what about Tommy? Or Minho? And Frypan? Where are they." His voice was filled with worry.

The girl tilted her head in confusion, but then realization it her. "I assume you're taking about your friends from the maze?" He nodded. "Don't worry, they're ok. In fact, you'd be happy to hear that they safely arrived at the Safe Haven."

Lynn explain what happened while Newt was assumed dead. She filled him in on how Ava Paige died, and how Janson died (or Rat-man, as Newt called him) Newt couldn't believe it. They did it. They stopped WICKED.

"Newt," Lynn started once again. "I can arrange the flat trans to take you to them. But you'll need to contact them to inform them of your arrival." Newt hasn't felt this happy since they left  the maze.

"Thank you, Lynn. Thank you so much." She gave him a soft smile. "Here." She handed him what Newt believed was called a phone.

She told him the number and Newt slowly dialed it. "I'll leave you alone for a minute." She left the room.

The phone started to beep. Every second that went by felt like an hour to Newt. Finally, after what seem like forever, someone picked up. "Hello?" Newts tensed, then quickly relaxed. He thought that he'd never hear the voice of his best friend ever again.

He then said,"Tommy." Newt heard a shaky breath come from the other end of the line. Like hearing that nickname reminded him of something he wished never happened. "Who is this?" Newt started grinning from ear to ear.

"Names Newt, Greenie."
