Kittra is my original character that inspired my Kylo Ren fic AT YOUR DARKEST, which if you haven't read yet, you should.
Kittra knelt obediently in front of Supreme Leader Snoke, waiting for punishment for her failure. As Master of the Silguard, she was responsible for even miniscule mistakes, every inconsequential miscalculation, and of course, each failed mission. Snoke had trained her to be the best since birth, and he expected nothing less than perfect.
"Lady Sil," Snoke drawled as he inspected an invisible speck of dirt on the sleeve of his golden robes. "You have failed."
Kittra hung her head in the most severe shame. Her cheeks were flushed pale in fear, but she dared to open her mouth. "Supreme Leader, I-"
Her throat closed up as Snoke clasped one bony hand into a tight fist. Kittra's mouth was left gaping open on the last word, and she struggled for breath. She rose up off the floor, her body completely under Snoke's command. All of her mental walls came crashing down as she screamed wildly for help, tears streaming from her eyes. She couldn't breathe, couldn't fill her burning lungs with the cold air she so desperately needed. Kittra could feel her mind slipping out of consciousness.
"I have told you before, child, not to speak until given permission. You are of no rank to address me of your free will," Snoke admonished, curling his fist ever tighter. "Do not make me remind you of what you are, and why you are what you are."
Kittra had never known her family. In fact, she had never known anything but the First Order and Supreme Leader Snoke. She was the child of two unimportant, ungifted, dead parents, cleaved from them at her first breath per Snoke's command. He had sensed her power long before she was born, and he had so strongly craved it. He took it, took her, and honed her into a weapon so dangerous that she could face an army of 10,000 soldiers alone, could destroy cities that had been standing for millennia. So, Snoke kept her close, guarded, and under his will at all times, lest she use her strength against him. She was only a what not a who, only a weapon not a human.
The door to the throne room slid open. Snoke released Kittra from his grip, letting her fall the floor with a sickening thud. She lay, gasping for breath, and scrambled desperately to rebuild her mental shields in her mind.
A cool, soothing darkness swept across the room that washed over Kittra like a bucket of ice water. Then, it seemed to bundle her up in a warm blanket of shadows. As it soothed her, Kittra felt like she could breathe again.
"Lord Ren, you have excellent timing, as always," Snoke crowed, a slight hint of anger in his deep, horrid voice. "You bring news of success, I hope."
Kylo Ren's footsteps filled the hall. The room was otherwise silent, save for Kittra's rasping breaths. Kylo slowly approached Supreme Leader Snoke, coming to a stop a short distance in front of Kittra.
Another wave of that inky darkness swept over her. It was so comforting. Kittra let herself be swallowed by it, relishing in the protection it seemed to promise. Where it came from, she didn't know, but she held onto it.
"The Knights of Ren are prepared to make the journey to Jakku," Kylo informed. "Thanks to the information from the Silguard, we were able to exactly pinpoint the location of the map. It won't be long before we discover where Skywalker has been hiding."
Supreme Leader Snoke grinned, dismissing his apprentice with a wave of his hand. "Well done, Lord Ren."
Kylo Ren dipped his head. "Thank you, Supreme Leader." He turned to exit the throne room, only making it a few steps before he stopped.
Kittra glanced up at him to see that he was offering her a hand. This bravery, this confidence in his disobedience, it made her take it. She was calmed by more of that darkness, and Kittra could have sworn that it was coming from Kylo. It was forming a wall of black adamant around her worn, battered mental shields, promising protection.
He hauled her off the floor with all of his strength, for Kittra was still out of breath, her knees weak. Every muscle in her body screamed with effort as he led her one step towards the door and then another. Each movement was a monumental battle with exhaustion. She was surprised when she made it to the door. It made a whooshing sound as it closed behind the pair.
"Thank you," was all Kittra could muster as she passed out in his arms.
