Mia and I have been sitting here for hours, just waiting for the creature to pass.

It's now 7:00, we were supposed to be back by now, and if we wait too much longer, well be trapped in here for the night. The thought sent chills up my spine, but the fact that I wouldn't know what to do in that situation was the thing that scared me the most. We didn't speak for hours, but Mia was the first to break the silence.

"We need to go." She says, shuffling to her feet.

"What you think the greiver will just let us pass?" I ask, proud of my sarcastic remark.

Mia sighs.

"No stick brain, for the past few hours I've been thinking of other ways to get back to the field. I think I know one." Mia says, dusting off her pants.

"let's go, but be quiet," She says, helping me to my feet.

We begin to sneak across the opening to the hallway the greiver was in, and lucky for us its back was turned.

It had a big fleshy body, with legs that stuck out at random. It had a green and white sticky liquid, oozing from its joints, and its wrinkly skin was covered in a thick saliva. The sight made me want to throw up, but i was glad i didn't have to know what the creature face looked like.

Mia and I were almost past the tunnel when the creature flinched.

The flinch made me jump, but no sound escaped my mouth. Unfortunately, that didn't stop my water bottle from falling out the side of my pack and hitting the floor with a crunch.

Mia and I stood, frozen in place. The creature snapped around and let out an ear-piercing scream.

"RUN!" Mia says, grabbing my arm and sprinting down the hallway.

The shrieks continue to follow us through every twist and turn, quickly gaining on us.

Before I knew it we were back on the path to the field, I knew my way from here.

Mia and I picked up the pace, never looking behind us.

We were only a few turns from the field, when a second greiver came rounding a corner, hurtling at us with immense speed.

I looked down at my watch. 2 minutes.

Mia and I begin to run harder, skidding around each corner, the greivers close by.

We rounded the last long corridor to the field, only to see everyone gathered at the door, frowns plastered upon their faces, with some fielders walking away.

I saw a familiar little girl in the crowd lift her head, and her eyes lit up.

"Guys its Mia and Y/N They made it!" Sarah yells, causing the other fielders to turn back.

Then it happened. The unmistakable groan of the doors rose from every direction, only causing Mia and me to run faster.

The fielders were cheering and screaming words of encouragement, but their voices were soon replaced by screams.

The shrieking of the greivers were now right behind us, they had rounded the last corner and were coming for the field.

Mia and I were only meters from the door, and time seemed to slow down completely.

Fielders were cheering and shouting, some crying and weeping.

Mia and I, running through the maze, the grievers quickly gaining ground.

We not going to make it. Well... I'm not going to make it.

Then I did the stupidest sticking thing I think I will ever do.

I grabbed mia by the shirt and pushed her as hard as I could through the doors, a few fielders catching her with surprise.

I stop. I stop running as I watch the last few inches of the door close. There was no going back now.

I looked down at the familiar little girl, the one I felt like I'd known my whole life.

Sarah stared at me in disbelief, tears clouding her beautiful black eyes.

I'm sorry. I mouth to Sarah before the doors shut with a big thud.
