The air was cold, and every time I inhaled I felt the dry air freeze up my throat, which triggers a choking reaction. I start coughing up water violently, using my hands a support as I continue to choke on the liquid.
The room was pitch black, and moving. was it moving left, right, up, or down? I couldn't tell, but the nauseous feeling I got after completely emptying my stomach forced me to believe I was going upwards.
The room was made of metal, made obvious by the smell of wet iron lingering in the air.
I sit down, resting my back against one of the metal walls, my stomach physically stinging from my episode before. My eyes had started to adjust, and I had started to see small sections of the room that incaved me.
the room wasn't very big, and my blurry, dark vision made it hard to make an exact measurement. There were a few things around the box that caught my eye. There were crates stacked in the corner, and they all possessed the label WCKD.
WCKD? sounds familiar. I thought, studying the crate further.
The room jolted sideways, and I was thrown to the other side of the box, hitting my head on the floor. Small lights started to appear through the gaps of the cage, and they were flashing red.
The room started to gather speed, causing everything within it to shake. The red lights soon blurred into one massive strip of red, turning on and off every millisecond.
I looked up to see the cage didn't have a roof, but what I did see terrified me even more.
There was a roof about 400 meters away from the top of the box.
The box gathered speed, and it seemed like it was going to go straight through the top.
I ducked to the floor, covering my head with my hands.
I took one last peek at the roof, before letting out a blood-curdling scream I didn't know I was holding.
The box came to a sudden stop, flinging me onto the concrete roof. I landed with a thud, my head again, taking most of the pressure.
I scramble over to the corner of the room and bring my knees up to my chest. I wanted nothing more than to be invisible at that very moment.
The screeching sound of metal on metal forces me to bring my hands to my ears.
an eye piercing white light shows above my head, filling the tiny box with a warm, yellow, glow.
I started to hear whispers above me, coming from beyond the box. I heard a loud thunk in front of me, indicating someone had jumped into the box.
Is someone here? Why would anyone want to come down here? I think.
The person in front of me hushes the crowd of whispers, and everyone obeys.
The person takes a step towards me, kneeling down. I hear Her knees click, indicating shes right in front of me.
"Hey, newbie. No need to be scared. We won't hurt you here." The person says, and from the voice talking to me, I can tell its a girl.
I flinch slightly from my defensive stance. The girl's soft words were awfully persuasive.
"There you go. You're okay." She says, moving my hands away from my face.
"Now I can help you get out of here if you like?" The girl says in a babyish tone.
I nod and take her hand, not wanting to be stuck in the box forever.
The girl had orange hair and pale skin. Her brown eyes were shiny, and her pupils were dark as night.
The girl helps me out of the box, and I feel my bare feet land on soft grass.
I take a look around, trying to gather all the information at once. I'm surrounded by 4 big walls, an opening in each side. The walls made you feel trapped, unsafe even.
What if they want to hurt me? I ask myself, panic starting to rush my body.
I was surrounded by about 40 or so girls, and they were all very different. Some with darker skin, some with lighter. All different heights and ages. Many different hair colors and eye colors litter the group.
The area inside of the walls was green and very natural looking. But still, I felt trapped. I just wanted to scream. So I did the only logical thing I could think of.
I ran.
I approached the nearest wall, gaining speed and momentum with every step.
The girls surrounding the box were hysterical.
They were all whooping and cheering.
"We've got a runner!" I heard one girl say, followed by a laugh.
I was only a few meters away from the door. I'm going to make it! I think.
I guess I started celebrating too early.
My victory was quickly snatched away from me when I feel someone grab me around the ankles, and pull me from underneath.
I fell to the ground but managed to use my hands to keep me up.
I felt a heavy, weight on top of me, sweeping my hands from underneath me.
I turn my head to see a fairly pretty Asian girl, sitting on top of me.
"Sorry about that newbie. If I hadn't, you'da run in there. And that's not a good thing." The girl chuckles.
She had jet black hair, and her olive skin was fair. She had pitch black eyes, ones that matched her roots.
"You need to calm down for a while." The girl said, picking me up with my hands behind my back.
She walks back across the grass towards some trees, and hidden behind some bushes, are a few small jail cells.
She walks up to one of the cells and opens the door, placing me inside.
She begins to walk away before she hesitates and comes back, and she procedes pokes her head through one of the gaps in the door.
"My names Mia by the way." The girl says, before getting up, and walking off.
