"She's doing well. Pushing Mia through those doors was what she thought was right, it may not have been what we expected but were always ready. Put the greivers back in their nightstand positions, Y/N will need time to gather her thoughts," I say, putting the clipboard back down on the desk.

"But Ma'am, maybe if we-"

"Now, now Janson. We need to take it slow. After all... the trials have just begun."

-- Y/N P.O.V --

I scramble back, the realization of what I'd just done kicking in. I felt a pang in my stomach, and I double over, starting to cough up blood. My legs felt weak and my whole body started to shake.

I'm going to die here. I'm going to die here. I repeated until the distant shrieks of a griever could be heard.

I snap out of my reverie and look back down the hallways.

The greivers have dissapeared? I think, wanting to move closer for inspection.

Another greiver shreak sounded to my left, and thats when I knew I had to run.

I turned right, my insides burning and my legs resistant. I run the fastest I could ever remember running. I turn the corners of the maze, not bothering to cut vines as I go. I hear the shreiks of greivers off in the distance.

I dont think they know im still here. I think, giving myself a boost of confidence.

I sprint for about 20 minutes, before i slow down into a jog.

The sky is pitch black, the moon high above doing verry little to light the way. occasionally I'd run into a vine or a dead end, in which case i would turn the other way and continue running.

My eyes had started to adjust, the outlines of the walls visible now.

I check my watch.

9:00. I've been here for an hour and a half and still no hiding place. I think to myself, stopping for a break.

I sit against the cold, hard, floor, a shiver running violently up my spine.  I take a sip of my last water bottle and slide it back into my pack.

I get up and start jogging again, going back and forth between paths for hours. The distant screams of grievers can be heard, but they hadn't disturbed me so far.

I start to see vines running along the floor.

left right left left.. wait I'm going the same way Mia and I were going earlier. I hope she's okay. I think, my stomach curling.

I decide that I'm going to go back to the spot we were at when we found the griever and see what it was doing all those hours.

I turn the last corner into the hallway the greiver was at previously. Theres something in the distance but I can't quite make out what it is.

I begin to step closer, looking for any signs of movement.

Is that... a brain?

A brain like thing laid on the floor, several cords sticking out in maultiple directions. The brain was covered in a green and yellow slime, as if someone had gone to mix the paint but never mixed it fully. It came out in layers, never blending together, spewing out the top of the object.

The sight made me gag, as I again started throwing up, this time not blood, but my lunch. As i continued to empty my stomach a noise came from around the corner.

I immediatly stood back up to look down the hallway.

At the end of the pass, staring right at me, was a Griever the size of an elephant.
