Mike and Ty obviously thought I was asleep, because they weren't trying to be quiet. I decided to call Elise so I didn't have to listen to them anymore. It was disturbing.
"Arabella, I thought you'd never call!" Elise answered. I smiled at her surprise. "How could I not? I haven't stopped thinking of you." "Aww. What is that noise in the background? Where are you?" Of course, they would have to ruin my perfect phone call. "It's Mike and Ty. They're going at it again. They assume I'm asleep." I could hear her adorable giggle through the phone. "Do they do that a lot?" She seemed genuinely curious. "Yeah. Quite a bit. They can't seem to get enough of each other. I don't mind really. I try to stay out of their way. Except right now I'm really hungry and they're in the kitchen." I laughed. My situation may have sounded terrible, but it never really bothered me. They were so in love, and it was really inspiring to see the way they looked at each other.
"I mean how can you blame them really. Ty's adorable, if I were Mike I'd be trying to get as much of him as possible." Elise responded. "True, Ty is adorable. He's just not my type." I said, attempting to make a joke. "Oh? And what is your type?" Luckily, Elise went along with my terrible joke. "Girls. You." I smiled. "Hey, I've got to go to work, but I'll call you when I'm done. Maybe we could hang out?" Yes! "Yeah, that sounds great. Bye." I hung up, and walked back into the kitchen. Michael was making waffles, while Ty just sat there and watched him. "You could at least try to keep it down while I'm on the phone." Ty didn't even blush that time, he just smiled.
"Hey, can you finish making the waffles? I need a shower." Mike winked at Ty. "You two never stop, do you?" I asked.
Mike grabbed Ty's hand, then stopped right before going into the bathroom. "Why would we?" Then he pulled Ty into the bathroom and shut the door behind him. I shook my head and laughed. "Unbelievable."
But the bliss in this household didn't last very long.
When they came out of the shower, they were screaming at each other. Screaming.
"You could've told me you applied to UCLA! That's all the way across the fucking country!" Michael screamed at Ty. What? Ty had always been interested in NYU for their art program. Not knowing what to do, I sat there on the couch and watched their dispute. "Please, stop cursing, you know I don't like it. Please." Ty was trying not to yell, but Michael wasn't holding back. "I-ok. But still, you didn't even bother to tell me! I'm your boyfriend and you didn't feel the need to tell me that you're moving to the other side of America?" Michael wasn't screaming, but he was still pretty loud.
"I just applied, I don't know! I haven't gotten accepted or anything, I just wanted to see." Ty was yelling at that point. "I thought you wanted this to work. Secrets don't make relationships work!" Michael was livid. "I'm sorry. I was going to tell you. I'm not even planning to go there, I just wanted to see." Ty's voice was scarily calm. "But what if you make it in? You're just going to leave me? I don't want a long distance relationship." Michael's voice was very quiet. "You can't even" Ty's voice broke. "think about moving with me?" Ty backed into the wall. "No." Michael then threw the letter from UCLA at Ty's feet and slammed the door to his bedroom, locking him in and Ty out.
"Ty-" I started, but Ty interrupted me. "I messed up, and I don't know if he'll forgive me." Then Ty ran to the front door and left.
"Where did he go?" Michael questioned me. I didn't answer, but Michael already knew. I set my school work down and followed him out the door. Ty hadn't gotten very far, so Michael was with him in a few seconds. I stood there, shivering as they yelled. I couldn't hear what they were saying, so I just went inside.
After about 20 minutes, they both came back inside. Neither of them looked happy. I stood by their door as Michael packed a small bag, kissed Ty, and left. Ty didn't move. He looked as if he was in shock. "Ty? Ty, he's coming back, right?" Ty snapped out of his trance and turned towards me. "Yeah. He said he needs a few days." He faked a smile. "Everything will be fine." He whispered.
But later, when we were sitting on the couch, he said: "Have you ever kissed somebody, and known that kiss will be your last?" I stared at him, and we cried together.
