Mike didn't come back, it had been a week, and neither me or Ty had heard anything from him. Ty moped around all day, drinking. I kept telling him that he was underage, but he would just ask me who was going to stop him. I hung out with Elise a lot, mainly because I didn't want to be at home alone with Ty in all his misery. Luckily, Elise had the week off of work, so she came over sometimes. Ty never drank when she was over, so that was a benefit.
Exactly one week and three days after Mike left, he came back. It was 3:30 am when he showed up in my room. "What the hell Mike?" I didn't realize how mad I was until this moment. "I'm sorry." That was all he said. "How could you do that to Ty? He's been a mess!" Michael laid down on my bed. "I was planning on coming back a lot sooner. The very first night, I wanted to come back. I just couldn't. I felt so bad. He deserves better than this. I would move with him, that just wouldn't be fair to you. I'd move in a heartbeat if I knew that you would be safe."
I shook my head. "Michael, you know I'll be fine. I just met Elise, and I can pay the rent by myself. If Elise and I get anywhere, she'll move in with me. I'll be absolutely fine, okay?" Michael didn't move. After a little while, I realized he was asleep.

In the morning, Michael wasn't in my bed anymore, so I hoped he was with Ty. When I walked into the living room, they were sitting on opposite sides of the couch; not even looking at each other. I sighed and sat on the couch with them. "You're not even going to talk it out? You guys can't break up, you just can't." They both looked at me as if they didn't know who I was. "We can do what we want." Ty stated.
Mike looked astonished as tears started to roll down his cheeks. "Do you really want to break up with me? After everything we've been through, you want to break up?" I had never seen Mike look so hurt. Ty looked back and forth between me and Matthew. "You hurt me, Michael. You left me for a week, and didn't tell me where you were going or what you were doing. How can you do that to me? How can you do that and expect me to forgive you the next day?" Ty yelled at Michael. I felt awkward being in the middle of their fight.
"What was I supposed to do? You're going to leave me anyway! I don't deserve you, and I know that, but you could at least tell me if you're going to leave me." Michael wasn't yelling. "You know what? No. This isn't your fault, Ty. It's mine. I should be supportive of your decisions. I am so sorry. What can I do to fix this? I miss you so much, Ty." Ty looked more confused than angry. "I don't know if you can, Michael. I can't expect you to follow me California. What if I want to go?"
"I thought you wanted to go to NYU. What happened to your dreams?" Michael questioned. I could tell Ty didn't want to have that argument. "I still want to go, I just applied to another big college to make me look good, okay? I'm not going to California, I just wanted to look good, okay?" Ty headed for the bedroom door. "Ty, no! We're not doing this again. I love you so much, Ty. Even if you wanted to move to Africa I would go with you. I was just scared. I love you, please don't leave me."
I left and went to my room. Ty forgave Mike, and I felt like I was invading their privacy by being there. Instead I just called Elise, and she said I could come over.
That's when it all began.
