Jason's P.O.V

I woke up and promptly started on my morning stretches. As my body got back into working condition my sleepiness began to clear. My thoughts began to get more and more clear as the seconds past. I knew today was special but I couldn't remember why... I gazed over to the calendar to check the date. July 1st. Hmm... What was going on today? Wait! July 1st? I whipped my head back towards the calendar. Today was my birthday! I can't believe that I almost forgot.

I quickly got dressed in some shorts and a t-shirt, and ran my fingers through my hair. I checked over my appearance in the mirror before leaving my cabin. It was only 8 am so there wasn't too many campers up yet.

I got to the pavilion in a matter of minutes and began eating my breakfast. As I ate, my eyes searched for any signs of my girlfriend. By the time I had finished, I still hadn't found Piper. I decided to go look for her in her cabin. My thoughts were jumbled with excitement as my feet took me in the direction of the Aphrodite cabin. Did she have something planned for tonight? Maybe she was late because she was getting something ready... I knocked on her cabin door, only to be met with no reply. Maybe she was in the bathroom or something... Quietly, I opened the door and snuck in. I was met with the sight of a sleeping beauty. Yup, Piper was fast asleep. Maybe she forgot it was my birthday today... I closed the door just as quietly as I had opened it, and decided to see if Leo had remembered. The trip to the Hephaestus cabin took less time than I had originally thought. I knocked on his cabin door to be met with the smiling face of a crazy elf that I like to call my best friend.

"Wassup?" Leo asked.

"Do you know what day it is?" I smiled.

"Um... Let me think..." He pondered for a second. "It's July 1st, isn't it?"

"Yeah..." I replied, my smile disappearing.

"Wait, no this is a special day!" He put his finger in the air as if he remembered something.

"Go on." I said as the corners of my lips turned up a little bit.

"It's Canada day! I should have known! Frank's been talking about all week! Thanks for reminding me, buddy." He said as he patted my shoulder before running off to find Frank. Great. My girlfriend, and my best friend forgot it was my birthday. I glumly walked to the arena to spend some of my birthday doing something fun. I entered the arena and found Percy practicing. Maybe he would remember!

"Hey Perce! Do you know what today is?" He gave me a proud smile.

"It's Canada day! Leo told me right before he rushed off to spread the news." He explained.

"Oh." I looked down in defeat.

"Wanna celebrate by having a little duel?" He asked.

"I guess so." I said sadly as I entered the circle and flipped my coin into a sword. We fought for a good three hours before the horn sounded for lunch. I flipped my sword back into a coin and stuffed it in my pocket, before making my way to the pavilion for lunch. I scarfed down a turkey sandwich all alone, before rushing out of the pavilion. It seems like nobody remembered my birthday. I went to my cabin to shower before I had to go to the climbing wall. I finished quickly and dressed myself in some new shorts and a t-shirt before heading off. The climbing wall was fun, and it took my mind off the sadness for awhile, but after completing it six times, the fun wore off. It was now time for dinner, which I also ate quickly. Tonight, we had capture the flag, so I decided to get all my equipment out of my cabin so I was ready when the game began. Teams were awful because Piper and Leo were on the other team. I had the ares cabin at least, so I got to have Frank as a teammate. We chatted as the teams assembled, and I wished him a "Happy Canada day", because it seemed to be the right thing to do. The game began and Frank and I were both on the aggressive part of our team, so headed out to look for the flag. After narrowly missing running into Leo, we found the flag. It was hidden right beside Zeus' fist, with Percy guarding it. Immediately, Frank changed into a lion and began attacking Percy. I noticed that Percy was preoccupied, so I simply grabbed the flag and sprinted towards my side. After a few minutes of flat out running, I had won us the game. My team began surrounding me, chanting my name. It was a great moment, I only wish that people ha remembered that it was my birthday. I was caught up in all the celebrating that it wasn't until it was almost dark, that I started towards my cabin. The losing team had left the field as soon as the game was over, so I guess I wouldn't be able to spend anytime with my friends or girlfriend on my birthday this year... I approached my cabin to see that my outside light had been turned off. That light switch is only able to be operated on the inside of my cabin, and that meant that someone had been in my cabin. Who would do that? I slowly approached the door, cautious of pranks that the stolls might have placed. I reached the door in one piece and let out a sigh of release. I opened my door and was immediately surrounded by all of my friends.

"Surprise!" They all shouted. I smiled and looked through the crowd. Everyone was there, Leo, Percy, Annabeth, and even Nico showed up. Piper came out of nowhere and placed a big kiss on my cheek.

"Happy birthday, Sparky." She smiled.

"Thank you. I thought you guys forgot."

"I would never forget my boyfriend's birthday! Plus it happens to fall on Canada day, which Frank so generously reminded us about fifty billion times over the past week." She said and glanced over to a blushing Frank.

"Well in that case, Happy Canada day!" I yelled to be met with a round of laughter.
