Piper's P.O.V

I smiled at all the sparkling lights that reflected off the lake. Despite the chilly weather, everyone had turned up, each bearing a nicely wrapped package. I glanced down at my own package and smiled at the cute little hearts that decorated the box. After we had defeated Gaea, it has become our tradition to spend every Christmas together. This year, we decided to try out a secret Santa gift exchange. I had almost squealed upon getting Annabeth's name. I had been wanting to cheer her up for a while, but had never had the opportunity. Ever since percy had broken up with her, she had lost that twinkle in her eyes. It was so hard to watch her get more and more depressed and not having any ideas to help her out of the slump she had fallen into. That is until the secret Santa idea was brought up. I turned as I heard a loud voice just a ways off to my left.

"I bet Piper's already there! She's always early! Right Piper?" The unmistakable voice of Leo filled the air. I sighed at his immature behaviour, decided to wait until he got closer to reply.

"Piper? Are you ignoring me?" Leo's childish voice wafted over the small incline between us.

I chuckled before giving in to his questions. "I'm here!"

"I knew it!" Leo called, his head now visible from the other side of the hill. Another head was soon visible beside him.

"Hi Calypso!" I called, a little softer now that they were approaching.

"No hello for me?" Leo pouted, almost reaching me.

"Fine, hello Leo." I rolled me eyes.

"That's better! Hi Piper, who's name did you get?" Leo asked, excitedly.

"Leo! You know she can't say until we all exchange gifts!" Calypso chided him.

"That's so unfair! Why did I ever agree to this?" Leo joked.

"Because you wanted to receive a gift." Jason's voice sounded from behind us. I put my hand on my chest trying to calm my wild heartbeat.

Jason chuckled. "I see you guys all wanted to be early."

"Yeah, it's always better to be early than late!" Calypso smiled.

"That's right!" Hazel called from the top of the hill.

"Hi hazel! Is frank coming?" I questioned, confused as to why they hadn't arrived together.

"He's just grabbing a scarf for me. Ever the chivalrous boyfriend..." Hazel chuckled as she stood beside me. A few seconds later frank came jogging towards us, a purple scarf in one hand, and a small box in the other.

"Hi guys! Merry Christmas!" He panted slightly as he handed Hazel her scarf.

"Merry Christmas!" We all replied in unison.

I looked down at my watch. "It's officially six, Percy and Annabeth are late."

"I don't know about Percy, but I'm on time." Annabeth's soft voice sounded from behind me. I twirled around in surprise before a huge smile broke out on my face.

"Annabeth, how long have you been standing there?" I asked, raising my eyebrow.

"Only a few seconds. Merry Christmas, by the way." Annabeth's lips turned up a little.

"Merry Christmas." I replied before swiftly pulling her into a hug. She immediately accepted, wrapping her arms around me too. It was short but sweet, the sweet scent of honey lingering from her shampoo as she pulled away.
