Untold Truths

As they approached the door a screen sprung to life.

"Identify yourself." The voice demanded. Jake searched his pockets and found a card.

"Mark Fender." Jake read out loud. The screen went black and the doors slowly slid open.

"Did it work?" Lilli asked. Jake shrugged his shoulders and reluctantly walked into the building. The other two followed him in and soon the were met with a massive brightly lit hallway.

"There! Freeze!" A voice called out in front of them.

"I think they know we aren't them!" Anthony yelled. Anthony turned to run as guards ran up on both sides.

"We're as good as dead." Lilli spoke in a quivering voice.

"Not yet. When I say so, get down." Jake ordered. As the guards drew their guns a man called out.

"On my count, open fire!" He yelled.

"Jake?" Lilli cried.

"Not yet." He mumbled.

"Three!"

"Two!"

"Now!" Jake yelled. The two knelt down and Jake turned to the side. He held out his hands and massive beams of red energy erupted from his palms. They smashed into the soldiers and the soldiers crumpled. Jake let his hands fall as an unscathed soldier ran at Jake. He grabbed the soldiers wrist and squeezed it. The man cried out as a crunch echoed in the hall and Jake turned back to see two other soldiers running at him.

"A little help?" Jake asked. Lilli and Anthony stood up and started towards the guards. As they fought back Jake knocked his guard into a door and yanked him up by his vest. Jake threw him down the hall and he tumbled into the dead guards. As Jake turned Lilli and Anthony had started towards him.

"Alright, now we split up and take down anyone who stands in our way. We're in to deep to let any guard get away." Jake ordered. The other two reluctantly agreed and as Anthony walked down a hall Lilli grabbed Jake's hand.

"I can't do this." Lilli mumbled.

"Yes you can Lilli. I know you can." Jake assured her.

"I don't mean the fighting. Jake, I mean watching you get hurt." Lilli confessed.

"I'm not hurt Lilli. I'm perfectly fine." Jake laughed as he slightly put his robotic arm behind his back and closed his blind eye.

"If you were to get hurt or even killed Jake, I couldn't help but blame myself." Lilli mumbled as she stepped backwards.

"Look at me Lilli, I'm a hot head, I send myself into trouble and I get myself and others hurt. You can't get me hurt. You will never be the cause of my demise." Jake said in a reassuring tone. Lilli gave a faint grin and Jake hugged her.

"Now than, let's split up and bring this base to the ground." Jake grinned as he started towards a set of doors. As he kicked them open a man with a machine gun stood on the other side of the hall.

"Son of a bitch!" Jake mumbled as the man opened fire. Jake held up his arm and expected to feel his arm being filled with led when all he heard was the sound of bullets bouncing off. He glanced up to see a red shield had forged its self in front of his arm.

"That's fucking badass." Jake grinned. Than he had an idea. As the man went to reload Jake let go of the shield and as it disappeared Jake held out his hand and a beam of red energy went straight threw the mans chest and through the doors. Jake started towards the doors as a group of soldiers stood in the way.

"Okay, now I'm annoyed." Jake boomed as his eyes began to grow red. He held out his hands and suddenly red energy took out the foot soldiers. Jake busted threw the doors and found himself in a room with a large tank filled with a light green ooze.

Jake slowly walked towards it and as he grew closer a hand was suddenly pressed up against it. Jake nearly fell backwards and let out a slight scream. Jake's eyes shot to the screen above the tank.

"Project JSE..?" Jake read out loud as the hand disappeared. Suddenly a voice rang out on the intercom.

"Now releasing projects, JSE and Plier."

"Why can't I catch a break?" Jake mumbled as he got back to his feet and the green ooze began to drain. As Jake grabbed for the door the glass shattered from the case and a deep green smoke escaped along with the silhouette of a man. Jake gulped as he was frozen with fear and the man drew closer.

"H..elp." The man groaned as he stumbled towards Jake.

"That's not what a killing machine says." Jake mumbled as he regained his ability to move. Jake ran out of the room just as a pink glow came from the room beside it. Jake booked it back towards the double doors just as the doors behind him exploded. Jake flew forward from the force and hit the ground with a thud. Jake quickly got to his feet and wiped blood from his forehead. Jake ran into the room where Lilli had gone and found flames glowing from down the hall. Jake ran towards them just as Lilli ran into him from the side.

"What's going on?" Jake demanded.

"I don't know, I came up on a room full of control panels and stuff when I saw these buttons titled 'project YT'. Jake, I started this." Lilli spoke as she wiped her eyes.

"No you didn't mean to do it." Jake assured her.

"We need to get Anthony and book it before we find out what 'Project YT' is." Jake finished. As they started towards the doors Anthony ran up from behind them.

"We need to go, now!" He yelled as he grabbed Jake and spun him around.

"What's wrong?" Lilli asked.

"I don't know, this... thing was following me and I managed to lose it just as I ran in here." Anthony panted. The three ran out of the building and noticed a truck across the road.

"That's our ticket out of here." Jake yelled as a green and pink glow started to light up the buildings around them. Jake grabbed the handle of the door and ripped the door open. As the other two got in Jake immediately grabbed for the wires under the wheel. Suddenly the truck shook as a figure landed on the hood. Jake looked up to see two glowing green eyes staring back at him. Just as Jake grabbed a wire the beings fist slammed threw the glass and yanked Jake threw. As the glass cut his face Jake looked at the being.

It seemed to be a normal human until Jake saw a slit across its throat and its eyes glowing a pale green.

"I'm back..." The being laughed maniacally. Suddenly Jake cried out as a terrible pain screamed in his stomach. Jake looked down to see the beings fist inside his gut.

As the being ripped his fist from Jake's stomach Jake fell off the truck and landed on the pavement. Jake twitched as the being seemed to see someone else and take off after them. Before he knew it Jake saw Lilli and Anthony at his sides.

"What do we do?" Lilli asked Anthony. Just as Anthony was about to respond Jake grabbed her hand and placed it on his wound.

"L-Lilli I need you to s-sear the wound and stop the bleeding." Jake mumbled.

"No, I'm not going to light you on fire." Lilli defended.

"I-It's the only way." Jake grumbled as he began to taste blood. Suddenly a terrible pain erupted from his wound. Jake cried out and shortly after sighed in relief as the wound stopped bleeding. As pain began to become a distant throb Jake sat slowly and wiped blood from his mouth.

"Who the actual fuck was that!?" Lilli demanded.

"Not a clue, all I know is that he is surprisingly strong for a scrawny guy." Jake laughed as he got to his feet.

"He might be scrawny, but we know what he
is." A voice echoed from a alley. The three spun around to see two figures standing across the street. There stood two black silhouettes, one with a glowing green eye and another with two pink glowing palms. As the two slowly walked towards them Jake snapped his fingers and his fists burst with red energy along with his eyes. Lilli took a deep breath and flames engulfed her arms. Anthony made a fist and lightning cracked and struck his hands.
