Alex's POV
Arrow's started flowing from the sky and I knew it was time. I dodged one flying from the left as I generated a lightning bolt and sent it flying into the growing shrouded in black cloaks. I know those things. They're magical armor that doesn't attract electricity, smart.
Zayn leaned over to me shaking a weird liquid off of his and before saying, "I guess this is it. How do you think we're going to do it? You know kill him."
I ducked back behind the large rock I was hiding behind and answered, "I don't care let's get it done already."
Zayn looked at me completely shocked both of us still dodging flying objects soaring around us. He sent off some balls of hail before saying, "Are you kidding? We are about to kill some eight or maybe nine-year-old kid and all you are going to say is, I don't care!"
When I completely ignored him, he went to grab my arm but I pushed him back with astounding force. "I don't care what happens to anybody. I want this over."
Zayn scrambled to his feet before asking, "What is wrong with you? We're supposed to be fighting them not each other!"
But then I noticed something wrong. "Why did the arrows stop?"
Just then a booming voice made itself heard, "All of you so-called warriors of Carol's so-called army you can either surrender now and come over to our side or you can keep fighting and be slaughtered without a second thought," the voice paused and I hesitantly stood up.
There was blood everywhere. I didn't know whether the blood was from their side or our own but something about this ladies tone made me think it was from our side. But something about that didn't make me sad, or even angry. It made some part of me happy like I wanted to go fight on their side. I stepped out from behind the rock almost in a trance, beginning to walk over to the other side.
"What are you doing," Zayn asked frantically jumping out from behind the rock following in pursuit of me, "you're going to get us killed if they see us we're dead! You know our mother and father won't waste a second in killing us both! We are almost in their sight we have to stop now!"
His words woke me up. What was I doing trying to help them? What happened to me in the first place? Wait a second, Lynn said something a while ago about it being easy to tap into my mind when I was angry, so what if somebody did? "Zayn I think somebody is in my head, " I whispered to Zayn, "I can't stop moving. I'm out of the trance now but I still feel different."
"What if it's The Killer? Did Aunt Carol ever say what his powers are?" Zayn asked trying to pull me back but failing.
"No, but I think there is this legend that he gains the power of everyone he kills."
Just then Zayn stopped trying to pull me back. "Alex I can't stop moving now either."
"So, if it isn't my two disgraces of sons," a loud high pitched voice called out. I looked around searching for my mother. I finally found her standing in between my dad and an ominous creature. That must be the killer. He was easily at least seven feet tall towering over my father's 6'4 height, dressed all in black with a large hood shrouding his face. You could almost feel the power and pure evilness radiating off of him as you got closer.
Everybody was silent just watching. Even the warriors on my parent's side didn't dare make a move. "You both decided to be all good and help your Aunt Carol. I hope that was the right decision for you because, newsflash, we were going to kill you anyway! You both were too powerful alone to take over our thrones, but together you're unstoppable! Too bad you'll never find out how to activate your powers because you'll be dead first!"
