Throughout the school day, I constantly checked my phone.
No texts that were super important. Except for one.
Best make room in that bed for me!! I'll be out this weekend!
Jack's visiting! No offense, I love Alex and Lisa. But they've been so high strung since Tom was born literally three days ago.
I'm sure Jack and I can get them to go out.
Plus, it'll be a sleepover every night!
When I got home, I walked in to hear complete silence. With the exception of the vacuum cleaner going in a different part of the house, some baseline from a song I kind of recognize, and clicking.
Upon further inspection, Alex and Lisa were passed out on the couch.
And so was little Tom.
Sick.
I went upstairs to do my homework before trying to clean it up a bit.
I had laundry to do, a floor to vacuum, and a bed to make.
I played music quietly from my vinyl player. I had recently gotten some of my favorite songs on vinyl, so I was pretty excited to play that.
I did a couple hours of homework before I started to get hungry.
It sounded like Alex and Lisa were up as well.
So, I walked downstairs and saw that they had ordered Chinese. Probably from Tang Street.
"When did you get home?" Lisa asked, handing me a box.
"Couple hours ago. You three were passed out so I tried to be as quiet as possible. Also, did Jack tell you he was coming out this weekend?" I asked.
"Shit. I forgot." Alex sighed.
"That's it. You two need a night out. This weekend. Jack and I will take care of Tom. You two will go out or I'll fight you both." I said, starting to eat my food.
I asked if I could go eat upstairs, so I could finish homework and eat at the same time.
"Sure. Just don't make a habit of it, and bring your stuff downstairs when you're done." Lisa replied.
I nodded, and walked upstairs with my food.
What I really needed to do was call Jack.
"Hey butter cup. You really couldn't wait until this weekend to see me?" Jack smirked, then dropped it when he saw the serious look on my face.
"I've told you about my brother, right? Matt?" I asked.
"Yeah. What about him?"
"He's been coming to me in my dreams. More than usual. And you know that I'm very into the paranormal. So, I was wondering. Would you take me to see a Medium when you come to visit?" I asked.
"Oh, absolutely."
And so, when Jack arrived Friday afternoon, we left to go see a Medium.
