Today he called with a lot of passion in his voice.
A young girl who is trying to hide her pain and herself out of the world.
Each morning at the sound of the alarm clock she gets up feeling energized.
She just wants to be beautiful, unoticed she knows, no limits she craves. Attention she praises an image she prays to be sculpted by a sculptor.
As i walked downstairs hand in hand with my sister by myside i could hear my dad discussing the wedding arrangement.
I was beautifully decorated with all sorts of ornaments. My eyes were painted with kohl and looking at myself in the mirror i knew my happiness were about to end.
"Ooh here she comes,my beautiful daughter".
"Please sit down"Said my father helping me to a sit. I was covered by a veil and i could hardly see through it.
I kept on bending my head down as i was devastated that am getting married to someone i barely know. Once i was happy but now i couldn't decide my future.
My sisters were sitted with my parents and  i sat by my husband to be still staring at how happy everyone seemed to be.
'Now let's start the ritual"announced the priest sitting down.
My sister stood up immediately helping me to sit down.
"Now take this coconut. It represents the sweetness of this marriage and a lot of children".
" Place your hand on your wife palm". Said the priest chanting the mantra
Taking the coconut from the priest i looked at him and he looked back. Placing his hand on the coconut the priest poured some incense in the fire making the flames rise.
"Now take the necklace and wear it on her neck'. Said the priest.
Taking the wedding necklace he slowly ran his finger under my veil and hooked it.
"Now to round up this marriage you have to walk round the holy fire seven times."
My sister Yazz  held the end of my saree, while Kunj elder sister Sugni held the end of his scarf. Tying the end of our clothes together the priest ordered us to walk round with Kunj leading the way first.
People were throwing flowers at us and i could see my mum shedding tears of joy.
'Now the wife comes forward and take the lead"
Stepping forward i walked slowly and as i kept turning childhood memories began to flutter in.
We finally exchanged our wedding rings and sat down.
"Now the marriage is complete" said the priest and a round of applause echooed through.
'Now the husband can  open the veil" announced the priest.
My vision now were clouded by tears as i could not hold it in again.
Lifting the veil slowly we locked eyes with eachother the moment the veil fell of my face.
An indian American boy. There was something about him. He looked so handsome and looking into his eyes i also saw pain in them. He looked calm and my thoughts were maybe he also didn't want this marriage.
Suddenly i felt his hands brushing the tears off my eyes. He just smiled but said nothing.
'Look they are already inlove with themselves" said my mother inlaw walking up to us .
Bending down we both seeked her blessings.
'Bless you my dear, bless you"
Walking over to my dad we also seeked his blessings, then over to Kunj dad, then my mum.
'Bless you my dear, may you always be happy " sobbed my mum drawing me in for a hug. I cried freely in her arms.
It's alright my dear. Everything is going to be okay. Assured my mum crying also.
'Dont worry about her Sunanda, it's every mothers joy to see their daughter get married. I'll personally take care of Sahiba" Said my mother inlaw hugging my mum.
'I don't know how to thank you Deveeka. You've being a source of inspiration to many women. Kunj is lucky to have a mother like you"
'Ooh stop it Sunanda. What are friends for"
With that everyone began to laugh and dance to the music playing.

When the time came for me to bid my family good bye i began to cry. Today i was leaving my family and starting a new life somewhere else away from home.
The cars were already waiting for us all to come out.
My mum with a tray filled with rice asked me to keep on throwing it backward as we stepped out of the house.
Finally outside i hugged them for the last time and slowly got into the car. Looking at my father he had this great smile on his face. My mum was crying and smiling. My sisters were also crying and smiling. As the car began to move i felt this emptiness crawling inside me. Looking through the mirror i found all of them still waving . My mum was the last to go inside. She'll greatly miss me , so will i.
Taking a look at the wedding ring i knew it must have cost a lot. I still had my veil over my face and taking a look at Kunj he looked relaxed and busy staring out the window.
I took time to study him more. He had a great sense for fashion and everything about him looked cool.
***************************************
By night fall we were already home. I was amazed to see such a beautiful mansion with 36 rooms.
Getting to the door we were asked to wait outside while Kunj mum came back with a small cup filled with rice.
"So now sahiba you have to kick this cup' Firmly placing it on the floor i kicked it gently and it fell spilling the rice. Next she brought the offering tray and rounded it round i and kunj face.
'Now step in"
Holding my saree i slowly walked in feeling shy at seeing everyone staring at me.
The servants helped to carry my luggage upstairs while i stood by Kunj staring at the massive living room.
'Come now, it's time for you too to have some  rest. Kunj you both go upstairs" Said my mother inlaw pushing us both.
No mum i. i. i ..
You what son?, no excuses take sahiba to her room" said mother inlaw as she and her husband started laughing.
Come i'll take you up" he finally said reaching for my hand. I nodded obediently as i followed him up.
Getting upstairs he slowly opened the  door and switched on the light.
I stood still gazing at the enormous bed decorated with roses and lights.
Happy married life Kunj and sahiba was boldly written with flowers on the bed.
Kunj at seeing it quickly went over and started removing the flowers.
'Mum, such a dramatic queen" he muttered under his breath as he was filling irritated at how the room was.
I stood at the door watching him. The way his hair fell on his face, His smile, the way he moved  his arm and the way his eyes blinked everynow and then.
Come sit here" he said tapping the bed.
I slowly walked in and sat down while still bending my head down.
Helping me with my bags he finally closed the door and sat on the bed with me.
I was feeling nervous, tired and shy to look at him.
'Hi am Kunj " He said reaching for a handshake.
I raised my head and looked at him, then to his stretched out hand still waiting for a handshake.
'Sahiba i replied shyly shaking him."
'Sa hi ba" What a beautiful name, well nice meeting you.
'Aah excuse me' He said standing up as he quickly left the room heading for the bathroom.
"What a weird guy' i muttered under my breath.
Standing up i walked to the big photograph hanging on the wall. A photo of Kunj proudly smiling. I smiled at seeing those eyes of his filled with happiness.
Carefully removing my veil off my face completely i began to remove my bangles, but stopped when i saw him through the mirror busy staring at me.
"Here take the towel go freshen up' he said handing a new towel to me.
I took the towel and watched as he quietly left the room.
Sitting on the bed once more i began to cry.
Just then my phone began to ring and seeing the name displayed on the screen i immediately picked it.
"How are you my dear?
Mum.. mum am fine i replied crying.
No don't cry my child, you need to be strong. You have a big responsibility ahead of you".
Mum am missing you already. This place feels strange to me. I want to come home.
No, no my child. You need to be strong, i may not be with you there. But you'll always be in my heart. Now promise me you'll take up the responsibility like i taught you. She pleaded crying more.
Yes mum, i will be a good daughter inlaw and keep my husband happy all the time" i replied crying more.
'I have to go now mum" i said cutting the call. Dropping the phone i slowly walked to the bathroom and shut the door.
***************************************
Walking out of the bathroom i got dressed immediately and sat on the bed gazing at the moon outside until the creaking sound of the door got my attention.
It was Kunj. He looked as if he wanted to say something.
You sleep on the bed i'll sleep on the couch" He said walking over to the wardrobe as he took a big blanket from there.
No you sleep on the bed i'll sleep on the couch i replied taking the blanket from him.
No what are you saying i'll sleep on the couch and you on the bed.
No you'll sleep on the bed and I'll sleep on the couch i replied taking the blanket once more as i began to arrange the pillows.
Quickly taking the pillow from me i tried collecting it but mistakenly poured the rose water in the bowl on the couch and some mistakenly poured on his shirt.
'Sorry" i replied bending my head.
Tilting my chin up he stared into my eyes and smiled.
"Now we'll both sleep on the bed'.he said taking the pillows from me. Walking over to the bed he used the pillows to create a bridge in between before going into the changing room to change.
I took the left while he took the right.
He  slowly faced me staring at me.
I also faced him staring at him also.
'Goodnight sahiba"  He said smiling.
'Good night Kunj" i replied softly as i slowly faced the door.
Closing my eyes i smiled to myself and quietly slept off.
