chapter five

Getting to my room i found the CD player lying on the bed. It was a video containing Mahi childhood memories.  Smiling happily to myself i left the room heading for the ceremony downstairs.
'Please insert this and play it after the henna ceremony"
'Yes mam"He replied taking the CD from me.
Hey Deveeka come apply some henna on our beautiful goddess here said Sunanda giving me the henna.
Taking a seat next to Mahi i began to draw some lovely mehindi designs on her palm.
Mahi seemed quiet all through and giving it a final touch i was surprised to see tears in her eyes.
'Mum i never thought this day will come when i have to leave you and go someplace far away from you all"
"I know my dear. You're all grown-up and ready to start your own life with someone else Mahi. Remember the values i've installed in you and use it daily to make sure that everyone around you is happy"
Yes mum.
'Now stop crying and smile abit for me". You wanted to say something earlier what is it?
"You see mum i wanted.....
"Hey Mahi your groom is here" shouted pinky disrupting our conversation immediately.
'We'll talk about it later dear"

Welcome please have your seat.

"Yes mother" He replied smiling cheerfully as we exchanged pleasantries.
"You're such a handsome man. Now come sit here" I said leading him to a seat close to Mahi.
"Take all your time and talk to her, meanwhile I'll be right back.'
Seeing my daughter beautifully dressed got me smiling all day, i was also sad because she would leave me all alone tomorrow.
I just loved seeing her happy and fulfilling her dreams.
"Look at our beloved Mahi looking all pretty like a princess' said kushi snapping me out of my own thoughts.
'Yeah she" is i replied smiling back

He seemed quiet as we sat down looking at everyone dancing. I could see my mum sharing some sweets and food to the guest.
Taking out my phone which had several missed calls out i discovered it was karan calling.
Karan calling me? I repeated getting more alarmed.
"Did you say something Mahi? Asked Varun smiling cheerfully at me.
"No, no it's just that i need some water i lied hiding my phone immediately.'
'Ok you stay here and i'll go get you your water"
'Okay" i replied as i watched him leave and immediately got up heading for my room to ring Karan up.
'I pray he doesn't come up here to ruin my whole plan".
'Pick up, pick up you idiot "
The phone after ringing for some seconds finally went off.
"Oh no! Not now you can't be dead.
Who's dead? Asked kunj walking up to me.
"What i mean to say is that my phone battery just went out' i stammered not meeting his gaze.
'Bring it i'll go charge it for you, meanwhile what are you doing up here. You should be downstairs with your groom Mahi"
No bhai i'll do it do not worry yourself about it. Am good.
The more i tried to reason with him the more he kept on persuading me to give the phone to him.
What are you two blabbing about here? Asked mum heading towards us.
You see mum Mahi here is trying to aviod her groom by pretending to go charge her phone.
"No mum, My phone is definitely drained and i was going to my room to charge it when brother requested i give it to him"
'Your brother is right. Now give it to him the guest are waiting" said mum dragging me downstairs the moment i handed the phone to Kunj.

'I met kunj busy sitting down with a glass of water in his hand, at sighting me he immediately got up handing the glass of water to me."
'Thank you" i replied taking  the glass from him

One hour later i started getting dizzy and my visions a little bit blur.
Why am i feeling soo dizy?
Trying to stand up the room began to twirl and i immediately fell on the cold tiles and slowly darkness engulfed me.

TWO HOURS LATER............
    Opening my eyes slowly i found my mum busy holding unto my hands with tears in her eyes.
'Mum" I called out trying to get up
"No my dear, Do not stress yourself"
"You got us all worried. You should have told me you were not feeling to good to continue with the engagement "
"The doctor will be here anyminute just relax abit" said mum leaving the room immediately.
I did not want to think more about my present condition so i just closed my eyes and slept off.
