Emily's P.O.V
After our successful day out, I decided to ask West if he wanted to go out again before Nationals, like a calm before the storm type thing.
So, we spent the day at the local mall trying out each other's quirks.
First, we went to the bookstore to do one of West's strange things where he puts money in some books. We walked into a bookstore, wallet in hand, ready to go.
"Okay," West told me "see over there," he pointed over to a corner in the bookstore, "I want you to fill as many books as you can with the money I've given you in 1 minute."
"Challenge accepted," I told him before walking over to the shelf. Full of romantic novels.
"Ready. Set. Go!"
I opened West's wallet and started from the top of the shelf and worked my way down.
"Times up."
I closed the wallet and threw it back at West before seeing how many books I "moneyed".
"28 books, not bad," I said looking over my shoulder at West. "What's next?"
"How about I try returning some of your clothes?" He asked pointing to my bag.
"Alright. Let's go."
----
Walking into my go-to clothes shop, I handed West the item I wanted returned.
"Are you sure you're up to this?" I asked him as we both held onto the item.
"I can handle anything."
"Okay then," I let go and gave the item to West, "Let's go."
The two of us walked up to the counter and West started to talk to the staff member at the register.
"Would I be able to return this?" West asked placing the item on the counter for the guy to see.
The guy looked down at the item and looked back up at West weirdly. "It's a dress."
"Yeah, I know." West nodded convincingly at the guy.
I nodded for him to continue.
"You see, my uncle North brought it for my birthday thinking it was a long shirt."
The guy squinted his eyes, "it has flowers in it and ruffles. How does it look like a tee shirt?"
"I don't know, my family thinks that uncle North has something wrong in the head, dementia or something. Anyway, so he mucks up a lot. For my sisters' birthday, he brought her a black guys singlet, so..."
"Then why didn't you two just swap?"
This guy was getting really suspicious now, so West had to say something really good now.
"Dude, she's 5. I don't think we'd fit into each other's clothes." West replied.
Safe.
"Fine. Do you want the refund on card or in cash?" The guy finally gave in.
West looked at me and I mouthed 'cash'.
"Cash."
Once the guy refunded the money, West and I walked out of the store in fits of giggles.
"Shall we use this money for some lunch?" I asked once I stopped laughing.
"Sure." West nodded, and together we walked towards the food court.
----
As we sat eating our lunch we started to talk about life and nationals.
"I've had so much fun today West," I told him looking up from my food.
It's true, today really calmed me down.
"So have I." He told me with a mouthful, though I knew he meant what he said.
"I'm glad we got to hang out. Especially with all the pressure of Nationals," I admitted to him. Honestly, there's a lot of pressure on us to win Nationals, but somehow West makes me forget.
"Good. I'm not the only one." This time he wasn't talking with his mouthful, but instead, he grabbed my hands out of excitement and shook them around, shaking around the butterflies in my stomach.
I think it's time I spoke up about my feelings...
"Maybe we can go out on a date after Nationals?" God, I hope this doesn't make things awkward.
He stared at me for a couple of seconds. Oh, no. Things are awkward.
"I would like that, and hopefully be prepping for internationals."
I sighed with relief and I felt a smile grow on my face.
"I can't wait."
