CHAPTER 17

SOEUN WAS woken up in the middle of the night by a phone ringing, jeongguk who slept soundly beside her didn't even move from the annoying sound.

the girl grabbed her phone and walked out the large bedroom, she froze from the contact name.

the familiar yet foreign words of 'mother' flashed on her screen, why was her step mother calling her?

"hello." the girl's voice was soft yet it sounded breathless. she heard noises behind the phone until a voice answered.

"soeun." the girl heard the voice of her step mother, there were screaming voices at the background.

"it's not fucking fair, she gets to living with jeongguk while I root here, I hate you all!" the girl almost rolled her eyes at her step sister's voice.

"He's mine, not hers. do something mother!" the girl sighed and rolled her eyes.

"why are you calling me?" the girl sighed again, she wanted to roll back into bed and cuddle with jeongguk, not here listening to her sister rant about stuff.

"just letting you know, enjoy your happiness while it last, park soeun. It won't be any longer till it disappeared."

the girl stared at the black screen, she didn't knew if she should feel scared or worried; what are they planning?

"soeun?" the girl snapped out from her thoughts when she heard the voice of jeongguk's behind her.

"jeongguk." the boy head snapped to the girl's voice, slowly walking towards her with the help of the wall behind him.

"why are you out here?" jeongguk asked, his hand searching for the girl's soft hands.

"i went to get some water." the girl lied through her teeth, soeun grabbed jeongguk's hand in hers.

"I'm tired, let's go back to bed." the girl snuggled against the boy's arms, while the boy strokes the girl's hand.

MORNING came by quick, the girl was outside on the balcony; drinking her morning tea while jeongguk was still asleep behind her.

the girl thought about what her mother said last night, "enjoy your happiness while it last, park soeun. It won't be any longer till it disappeared."

the girl sighed before she heard jeongguk's soft groans as he started moving around in his bed, probably looking for her.

"soeun?" she was right, jeongguk was looking for her. the girl place her tea down and stood up, walking to the bed.

"I'm here." the girl smiled, she sat down on the bed in front of jeongguk. the boy had a smile on his face.

the boy pulled the girl onto his lap and buried his face in her neck, taking a deep breath of her jasmine scented body shampoo.

the girl let out a small giggle as the boy place soft kisses around her neck, her giggle slowly turned into laughter.

jeongguk pulled away from her neck with a huge smile on his face, "I could never get tired of your laugh, it's adorable."

the girl smiled as jeongguk place a soft kiss on her natural red lips, a knock interrupted the couple.

the door opened, mrs.jeon came in with a smile on her face as she saw her son and the girl on the bed.

"g'morning, I hope I didn't interrupt anything." the girl shook her head and got up from jeongguk's lap.

jeongguk stood up from the bed and walked into his bathroom, probably going to take a shower.

"well, I just wanted to give soeun this. you're father sent this." the girl frowned and took the letter from her.

"thank you." the girl looked down on the letter with her father's handwriting on it, the girl opened the letter slowly.

the girl's hand shook forcefully that she dropped the letter after reading at the first line, tears filled in her eyes.
