Alpha's POV
"Is he all right?" Silena asked.
I shrugged. "Not sure."
Zoë bit her lower lip. "I've never heard him lose his temper like that."
I leaned back, sighing. "Exactly. What could piss him off like that?"
Beckendorf shrugged, putting his arm around Silena. "I thought he didn't have any emotion."
"I know. How could somebody not get angry when the Alpha team was late for patrol 4 times in a row."
"3." I corrected.
Michael rolled his eyes. "Whatever."
"What are we trying to do?" Ethan asked crossly.
"Trying to know something about Commander." Bianca said matter-of-factly.
"Why does that matter to us?"
"Cause he's our Commander idiot." Silena scoffed.
"Well, we know he's human."
"He is?!"
I sighed. "Apparently, he is. He sleeps, he eats, he bleeds, he drinks, he talks, he moves, he breathes-"
"Okay, we get it." Zoë said.
"So... there's someone in the Fields of Punishment that Commander obviously cares for, and he's human. Any other facts?"
"He's right here."
We all whipped around to see Commander looking at us with his usual, stony eyes. I gulped. He scanned all of us very, very carefully.
"Ethan, don't you need to be on patrol."
His voice felt and sounded like ice water, flowing, smooth, and cold. Ethan stood up abruptly.
"The Omicron team is waiting for you."
He bowed his head to Commander before going out of the room. Commander's eyes turned to us.
"I'm guessing what you were talking about is a secret."
I bit my lip. "Commander-"
"I'm pretty sure you have papers due till noon."
"... Yes."
He stared at me pointedly. I sighed and stood up.
"We have a meeting at five. Come to the meeting room."
He left in a swish of black cloaks. I let out a long breath and sat back down.
"Man. I don't know how I even fought him in the first place."
"He has changed quite a bit though." Silena said. "Remember his doctor?"
"Oh.... yeah. After he was fired..."
"I should go. Commander actually looked angry." Ethan said.
"Yeah. I should too."
"Meet you at 5."
