Evelyn's Apartment

Janet's Pov

Mama E sat me down on her bed and went to lock her bedroom door. She came back and sat beside me. My head hung down for I was too afraid to look in her eyes. I knew she'd see right though me. I played with my fingers as neither of us said a word. The silence was unbearable but that didn't last long.

Evelyn: How long?

I looked up at her and I could see it in her eyes. I knew that she knew there was no need to deny it.

Janet: A couple months

Evelyn: Does she know?

Janet: No

Evelyn: You gotta tell her sweetie

Janet: I know. I'm just scared...we just got each other back and I don't wanna break her.

Evelyn : She's gonna find out one way or the other Jan. The time to tell her is now please don't wait till it's too late.

Janet: *sigh* I know. I-I'm just waiting for the right moment to break it to her easily.

Evelyn: Have you been taking your meds?

Janet: Yes but they make me even worse than I am. I try not to show it to her but some day I can't help it. I just wanna make her happy mama.

Evelyn: You already did... don't wait till  things get worse Jan. Don't break her heart.

Janet: I will mama. I'm gonna tell her. I'm just so tired not only physically but  mentally.

Evelyn: I know baby but you just gotta keep the faith and keep on praying. Remember that I'm always there for you Jan. You may not be my daughter but you're now apart of me and I will be there for you every step of the way.

I felt my tears fall down my face. Having this kind of love meant everything to me. Even though I have my own family and they knows what I'm going through, to have another set of arms to run to like this made me feel stronger even though I'm getting weaker everyday.

Evelyn: Come on baby...I got some cobbler I made just for you and some ice cream. Ice makes everything better

Janet: *mumbles* is it does

Evelyn: Little girl don't get whooped...nasty behind *laughs*

We joined back the girls downstairs. They seem to haven't noticed how long we were gone. I went and sat by Toni and she automatically pulled me into her warm body. She kissed me gently then smiled at me with pure love.

Toni: Everything alright baby? You were gone a long time.

Janet: Yes baby everything is fine. Mama and I were just having a conversation.

She turned to me intrigued.

Toni: What were you guys talking about?

Janet: In due time you'll know baby but for right now let's just have some cobbler *smiles widely*

Toni: I'm gonna stop bringing you over here. Always stealing my mama...get your own

Janet: Aww is my baby jealous?

Toni: *frowns* that's my mommy

Janet: come here you big baby

I pulled her face to me and gave her the sweetest kiss. I held on to her as we made out completely ignoring the fact that we weren't alone.

Janet: Sharing is caring baby...besides mama loves me more. Isn't that right mama?

Evelyn: The devil is raging. I'm gonna go take a shower. I packed some food for you two it's in the containers on the counter.

She walked up the stairs but not before yelling:

Evelyn: And bring me back my damn containers I'm not playing with y'all heffas!!!

I laughed way too hard for my own good. Mama E was a trip but I still love her like my own mother. I was getting tired so I told babe to get everything. We said goodbye to the girls and got in the car. The drive back to Toni's place was smooth but I was too busy in my own thoughts.

Toni: Jan? Are you sure you're alright?

Janet: I'm fine baby*faint smile*

And hour later, we made it home and I made her carry me inside. I lied and said that my feet were hurting but the truth is I'm just too weak to even take another step. I went up to her bedroom as soon as she set me down in the house and took a shower. She came in a couple mins later and showered with me. After we were finished we got in the bed. She said she wasn't tired and I tried playing along but I was worn out.

Toni: Janet what's the matter? You've been in your own world since we left mommy's.

Janet: Yes baby I'm fine. I'm just tired that's all

Toni; Tired

Janet: Yes baby

Toni: You're not telling me something and I don't like it.

I sighed and sat up to the best of my ability. I held her hand and caressed it.

Janet: Alright. Yes there's something that I need to tell you but right now I just wanna wait until I'm ready. Don't start thinking too hard baby in due time...you will find out.
