"Come on in guys!" Vince yells to the other Munies who were rescued, a group of them taking a seat in front of the platform the old man is standing on.
Soldiers around us call out, calling for anybody who needs help. The other Munies, some of which I've never seen, all go to different places, some in the old building behind us and others walk across the shoreline.
This place is absolutely beautiful. The bright blue water of the ocean crashes gracefully onto the sandy shore. The bright sun shines down on us, casting rays of gold wherever we look. There's not a single cloud in the sky. Gulls fly around, making it seem as if everything is right in the world.
Newt and I join Frypan at to the back of the group standing near one of the rubbled buildings. Fry engulfs me in a hug, welcoming me here. Only it doesn't feel right. I don't feel at home here.
Not without Minho...
"When did you guys get here?" I ask the boys, my hands mindlessly shifting the bandages on my wrists.
"Only a couple months ago. We've moved around twice since you got... well ya know. When Vince found this place, He was ready to get to the Safe Haven." Frypan says, his eyes never leaving Vince.
"Oh wow!" I say, surprise in my voice, my eyes move around again, taking in the view. "This place is beautiful! I've never seen anything like it." My eyes move back to the guys, fear creeping into my chest, making it feel tight. "How long is Vince wanting to stay here?"
Frypan lets out a sigh, his eyes moving to mine. "He wants to leave in the next week."
My heart falls to my feet, my mouth slightly dropping open. "What?" But Minho... We can't leave him behind.
"Aright Listen up!" Vince yells, interrupting our conversation and making us look at him. "I know you've been through hell. I wish I could say our troubles are over, but we're not through this yet." The old man stands on a large platform, a giant ship behind him. "WICKED is still out there. They aren't giving up," He pauses. "Mainly because you have something they want. They took you because you're immune to a plague that's wiping out the human race."
Part of me doesn't want to listen to this, the other part knows I have to. I can't stop fighting, it's not what Minho would want.
"And they think you're worth sacrificing for a cure. Well, I don't!" Cheers erupt from the crowd as Vince continues with his speech.
I stay silent, tears beginning to poke at my eyes. WICKED could be torturing Minho now, probably for information on today's events or even just because they want to for that stupid cure.
"So in two days when we get this tub of rust seaworthy, we're getting the heck outta here!" Two Days!? "We are taking you to a place WICKED will never find you again. It's a place you can start over and a place you can call Home. So who's with me!?"
Shouts of excitement arise from around the camp, Newt and Frypan joining in. I just look down at my feet, squeezing my eyes shut as I try not to cry. We can't leave Minho. Not When he was so close to being free. How could Vince want to leave without saving everyone...
I move my head up as Thomas passes by me, watching him shake his head. My eyebrows furrow and I soon realize he's thinking what I am.
We have to go save Minho.
"I'm gonna go check on Tommy," Newt says, my eyes moving to his somber ones.
I look up at him and smile. "I'll go with you!"
He returns the smile and gently nods, the two of us following after the brunette boy. He leads us back behind the building and through a long alleyway with water bottles sitting everywhere, vines growing around them.
