Bacon Ban

It was a sunny morning, golden rays of light shining in through the windows of the tree house. A beautiful morning, after a stormy night. The New Order had just started waking up, starting their daily routine. Things were finally getting back to normal, settling down after the defeat of the Wither Storm. Even though everybody knew; things would never be the way they were.

In the kitchen, Lukas was making breakfast, filling the room with a delicious smell. Axel was sitting at the dining table, trying to throw grapes into the air and catch them in his mouth. He's been failing so far, resulting in the tiny fruit being scattered across the wooden floor. Much to his disgust, Lukas has already stepped on a few. Petra was sitting at the table across from Axel. Her eyes were glued to her phone as she tried to play some sort of action game. Every now and then she would curse loudly, slamming her hands down on the table in frustration or even kicking the empty chair beside her, before returning to the game. For their own safety, nobody has tried to get involved.

The door opened and Olivia came into the room as well, adjusting her engineering goggles on top of her yellow beanie. No doubt about it, she was going to be spending another day in her lab, working on redstone.

"Axel, what is this?" Olivia asked in an annoyed tone, high-stepping her way through the grapes on the floor, before opening the fridge to take out some orange juice.

"Morning to you too." Axel muttered, reaching down to the floor to get a grape, since those in the packet had run out.

"Where's Jesse?" Petra asked, having looked up from her phone and actually acknowledging the others in the room.

"Still in bed." Olivia said, sitting down as well. "I'm letting her sleep in for once. She needs it."

"Still having those nightmares?" Petra asked, sighing softly.

"Every night she has them." Olivia confirmed, looking down at her glass of orange juice.

Everybody was quiet, except for Lukas who was continuously tapping his foot against the floor as he cooked. Axel silently continued to toss grapes into the air and failing to catch them.

"So, Lukas." Olivia finally said, breaking the silence. "What's for breakfast?"

"I'm trying to make a classic, traditional breakfast." Lukas started explaining, not bothering to look back at her.

"Pancakes?" Petra asked hopefully.

"No." Lukas said with a chuckle. "Eggs, bacon and toast."

A dead silence immediately set over the room. Even Axel stopped trying to catch the grapes, his eyes wide.

"What did you say?" Olivia asked, her eyes wide.

Lukas looked back at them in confusion. "Eggs, bacon and toast." He repeated matter-of-factly.

"Lukas, don't you think that might be a little... inappropriate?" Petra asked.

"Why?" Lukas asked, taking the pan off the stove and turning around so he could face them.

"Lukas, bacon wasn't even aloud in this house before the incident!" Olivia hissed, keeping her voice down for obvious reasons.

Axel stood up as well, looking furious. "I knew this guy was an idiot from the start!" He snapped, pointing accusingly at Lukas.

Lukas looked dumbfounded, glancing from the pan of bacon and eggs, back to the furious Axel and Olivia.

"Reuben." Petra finally said.
