You will be questioning my sanity by the end of this. Please Enjoy.

It was late autumn, the sun's rays dim and weak, the air crisp. The trees were painted many shades of oranges, reds and browns, the dried leaves scattering themselves across the street, piling up against the buildings.

Jesse didn't appreciate the cold very much. She much preferred summer, with the sun shining brightly and the landscape green instead of brown.

Jesse snuggled herself deeper in between the squishy cushions on the couch, not taking her eyes off of her book. For the past week this was pretty much all she's been doing – hiding away from the cold in the Order Hall's basement library, burying herself in a good book. After all what else was there to do?

Axel and Olivia were currently out of town – Ellegaard had invited Olivia to Redstonia for the unveiling of some new invention. Olivia had thought it would be great idea to drag Axel along. Jesse, Petra and Lukas had all tried to convince her that Axel's love for destruction wouldn't fit very well in the peacefulness of the quiet little town of Redstonia. But Olivia had taken him with her any way, so who knows what kind of trouble they'd be cooking up?

Petra has been in the enchanting room from dusk till dawn for most of the week, trying to perfect her precious golden sword. Jesse didn't even try asking how Petra's been able to obtain all the enchantments she was using. While the two girls were mostly in the house, Lukas had been spending most of the past few days out in town, signing citizens' copies of his latest book. It's been quite a hit.

"Hey, nerd."

Jesse only briefly glanced up from her book, before fixing her gaze on the page once again.

"Finished enchanting for the day, Petra?" She asked, not looking back up.

"Yup, I don't think it's possible to improve this darling any further." Petra said, dramatically swinging her golden sword around.

"If you knock something down, you're replacing it." Jesse warned.

Petra just rolled her eyes, flopping down on the couch beside Jesse. She craned her neck to see what Jesse was reading, before losing interest and sinking back into the pillows. She made her boredom obvious, tapping her foot on the carpet repeatedly and sighing heavily every now and then.

Finding it hard to concentrate of the book any more, Jesse closed it, turning her attention back to her friend. Petra immediately took this as opportunity to start talking.

"So, I've been thinking – it's time you get out of the library. At least for a few hours."

"You know I'm not much of an autumn person." Jesse said with a grimace. She tugged her jacket more tightly around herself to prove her point.

"In summer you complained it was too hot, now you're complaining it's too cold." Petra muttered. "Jesse, there's so much more out there! Danger! Risks! Excitement!"

"I know, and I've experienced enough of it in my time, thank you very much." Jesse said, reaching over for her book again before adding. "Especially the danger and the risks."

"Now, now, hear me out." Petra said, snatching Jesse's book from her hands.

"Are you serious?" Jesse asked, trying to grab back the book. Petra held it above her head, a determined grin on her face. Jesse, being much shorter than Petra, had no means of success.

"So, now that you're attention's on me.." Petra said, shoving the book underneath herself so she was practically sitting on it. "Want to hear my idea?"

"Let me guess, you want me to go monster hunting with you tonight?" Jesse asked, sighing.

"Well, that would be fun, but maybe another night." Petra said, after hesitating for a second like she was actually considering it.
