I dodge a blow to my neck and quickly regain balance. Gripping it, I swipe my sword to my right to where Komu is, which he darts out of the way. His blade clanking against mine as we both press our weight onto it. I lift my leg, intending to kick but he sees through my move and jumps away.

I launch at him, hoisting my weapon above my head. He raises his, prepared to take my blow but I instead drop the blade down and instantly disarm him. His sword flies from his grasp to clank with the shut metal door before dropping.

I tear my gaze from it and look at Komu. A smug looks spreads on my face at his surprised expression. "Surprised that I'm a fast learner?" I ask.

His features shift back to its casual blankness as he lands his bored eyes on me. "Can you say the same when confronted with the rebel?" he says, smirking.

The smug immediately drops at the mention. For a moment, I forgot the whole purpose behind all of this. I turn away from him.

"I'm sure our schedule ends here," I say instead.

It's awhile before he moves to takes his sword and as usual leaves without another word.

I release a deep breath, kneeling to pick up the scabbard. I sheathe the sword at place it near the door.

I cast a glance at the pile of papers stacked along the wall. The pages still remain blank and untainted with ink of words. I asked Komu for it the other day, after some persistent.

I go to sit beside it. And take out a pen, the navy blue one I bought with Senya, from my sleeve. My old one remains at the corner of the room, blood stained. Something pokes at my hand and I find that it's Senya's hair stick. The crystal butterfly glittering. I smile at the ornament as I place it beside me.

Adjusting my position on the floor, I find myself unable to look away from the sparkling hair stick. It reminds me so much of Senya. I miss her. I've always wanted to write a letter and somehow beg Komu to send it to her. A twist forms in my chest at the thought that he might do anything to harm her. That he might tell Utsuro about anything unnecessarily.

But I will do anything to protect Senya. Even if it means losing myself to the blood that resides in my veins.

I set my hand on the paper and begin to write.

Senya,

I'm very sorry that I just vanished from you. But I assure you that things will turn out fine. I can't value enough of what you've done for me. And I truly wish to stay with you for a longer time. But now, I've come to a realization that by being with you, I'm not only bothering but also endangering your life. That with my past, I can't escape from the future that ensues.

I must do whatever needed to sustain our precious memories in order for us to have a chance in increasing them. I will try my best through of this and hopefully in the future, we might meet again.

Until that day, your friend

-Y/F/N

My eyes scan over the letter again, though my mind is elsewhere. I can't bring myself to focus on one thing these days. Sometimes, I catch me spacing out, staring to the floor. Yet when I try to repeat what I'm thinking about, I can't seem to recall.

It's not because I forget. It's because there was nothing I was thinking about. My head stays blank as the time of my endless wake becomes a routine.

And I know. I'm starting to break. I raise my head and lean it on the wall. The room is always so cold. With every passing hour, I feel like I'm losing away. That with every breath I take from this place, a veil is slowly proceeding to cover up my heart, making me empty.
