It was about two weeks after Christmas. Mika was helping me pack stuff up. Once we were done, he wrapped his arms around my waist. He nuzzled his face into my neck as I held his hands. "I'm gonna miss this place." He said quietly. I turned around to face him. Then I wrapped an arm around around his waist. "I know, I know. But we'll be back soon." I said with a smiled. He looked at me, then hid his face in my shoulder. I leaned over and kissed his head. "Come on."
He looked at me before slowly following after. I put my and Mika's stuff in Guren's truck.
"Yu!"
I turned around to see Akane running up to us. I sat my backpack down as she hugged me tightlyI stumbled back a little before crouching down to hug her back. "Hey, hey. It's ok." I said as I rubbed her back. She sniffed and looked up at me. "Do you really have to go?" She asked quietly as she looked at me. I looked at her sadly as I sighed. "I can have mom or dad Facetime me so we can talk." I said as I moved hair out of her face. Then she closed her eyes and hugged me again. "I don't want you to leave...".
Mika crouched down as well as he put a hand on her shoulder. "We'll be back soon, I promise." He said softly. She looked over slowly and sniffed again. Mika held his hand up. Suddenly, a shell slowly started to form in his hand. Soon, a necklace formed with it. He held it up to her. Her eyes marveled at the beautiful shell as he slowly clipped it around her neck.
"If you ever get lonely or you miss us, just look at the shell and think of us. It'll make you happy again." He said as he looked at her. She looked at the charm before looking at him again. Then she smiled and hugged him tightly. He smiled and hugged back.
"Yu! Mika! Let's go!" Guren called out. Mika looked over at him before looking at Akane. "Don't tell anyone that I made that ok?" He asked. She nodded and crossed her heart. "Promise!" She said. Mika smiled and rubbed her head. She looked at me and hugged me tightly as I kissed her head. "Love you crazy." I said. "I love you too Big Brother."
"Let's go!" Shiho yelled. I rolled my eyes and slowly stood up. "I'll see you soon, ok?" I said. She looked at me and nodded. I smiled and said my goodbyes to my parents before we went to Guren's car. "How did you do that?" I asked Mika quietly. He looked at me and smiled. "It's hard to explain but, it's like what I did with the water at the ocean." He said before getting into the car.
The five hour drive back, I had my head on Mika's shoulder. He had a hand around my waist as he stared out the window. Shiho was pretty quiet throughout the car drive. Usually him and Guren are talking and I'm the quiet one. But it was him this time. Once we got home, he got out pretty quickly and walked inside.
I got out and walked over to Guren. "Hey, what's wrong with him?" I asked. Guren closed his door and looked at me. "His girlfriend broke up with him I think. He's been quiet for a couple days." He said quietly. My eyes widened a little. "Horn broke up with him?" I asked. He nodded. "Don't, talk to him about it. You know how much she meaned to
him." He said quietly as he walked in.I looked over at Mika as he grabbed his bag. I walked over to him to help. "Is everythting ok?" He asked. I looked at him and nodded. "Yeah, yeah. Everything's fine." I said with a smile so he wouldn't get worried.
"Yu-Kun!!"
I turned and felt light weight on my chest. I looked down and saw Yoichi ontop of me. "Yoichi!" I said as I chuckled. He was hugging me. "I missed you!" He said. I gave him a hug back before he went to hug Mika like he did to me. I smiled. "I was only gone for a month." I said as I took my bag from Mika. "Come on inside. I can make food." I said as I started inside. He smiled and followed. "I heard you found your parents! What was that like?" He asked as he walked in.
"I have a little sister." I said happily. His eyes widened. "Are you serious??" He asked, a huge smile on his face. I nodded and smiled. "She's in love with Mika." Mika blushed as he looked away a little. "How old is she?" Yoichi asked as I started boiling water. "Three." Mikaela said.
"That's so cute!" Yoichi said as he giggled. I smiled a little and poured the rice into the water. Mika sat down and started looking through pictures on my phone. "That's her." He said and showed Yoichi a picture of her. His eyes widened. "Yu-Kun she looks just like you." He said as he looked at me. I smiled a little and nodded. "Yeah, that's what Guren said." I responded. Then he tilted his head a little.
"Wait, if you have a little sister, why aren't you with her?" He asked. I looked down a little and sighed. "We made a deal with my parents. I stay here for two months, then Mika and I head over to their house for a month. And the cycle continues." I said.
"But, wouldn't you want to stay with them forever?"
I looked down a little. "I couldn't just forget my family here, could I? Plus, I didn't want to leave the ocean either." I said. "You know how much that means to Mika and I."
He nodded his head. "Understandable." He said. Mika smiled and looked at him. I turned and got the rice out so I could separate it into bowls. I got the curry and put it on top before handing bowls to Mika and Yoichi. "You guys wanna eat on the beach?" I asked. Mika looked up and nodded before smiling brightly. "Yeah! I haven't been to the beach in a while!" Yoichi said happily.
We took our shoes off and headed in that direction. I sat down and sighed as I felt the water hit my feet. "I miss this feeling." Mika sat next to me, his legs curled up as they leaned onto my thighs. I looked over at him. "You can go for a swim after you eat if you want. I know it's been a while." I suggested. He looked at me. "Are you sure?" He asked. I smiled and nodded. "Yeah." He smiled and leaned his head on my shoulder. I turned and didn't see Yoichi with us. I looked around before I saw him running towards us.
"What happened?" I asked. "Nothing, I just had to do something real quick." He said as he sat down. He started eating as he looked at the water. "It's so pretty."
Mika nodded. Then, Yoichi looked over at him. "You never really told us about your kingdom. I'm really curious." He said. Mika looked at him before looking down a little.
"Well, I've told Yu-Chan before but, I'm the Prince of the Hyakuya kingdom of the Yellow Sea." He said. Yoichi's eyes widened a little. "Wait, you're from the Korea area? What's it like?"
"It's scary. There are submarines everywhere. Sometimes, it was dangerous for us to even go out hunting for the kingdom. I was never allowed to leave the palace sometimes. My father feared that humans would come and kill us.." He explained. "That was before my uncle became king. When my parents went missing, he assumed control and banished me from the kingdom."
"Why?"
Mika looked at him. "He hated me. He knew how interested I was into humans and thought it wasn't right for me to rule a kingdom like that." He said as he looked at the water. "Well that's stupid." I looked over at the brunette. "If you're the next heir to the throne, then you should be treated that way! Your uncle shouldn't just abandon you like that either. He's your family!" He said. Mika shook his head slowly. "He'll never be part of our family...He's not even a mermaid.." He said quietly. Then, he sighed and stood up. He removed his shirt before running into the water and diving under. I watched him do this as I sighed
"Did I say something wrong...?" Yoichi asked. I looked st him and shook my head. "No, it's fine. Just, just give him a minute." I said quietly. I looked up at the sunset before I laid back and closed my eyes.
